Lifeproof iPhone 5 Case Now Available as fre

Published

on

The Lifeproof iPhone 5 case is now available at Best Buy and Lifeproof for $80 as the Lifeproof fre for iPhone 5.

Lifeproof Designed this the iPhone 5 case to withstand water, dirt, snow and shock — providing protection from almost any hazard that could damage the iPhone 5.

The Lifeproof fre joins the recently announced Lifeproof Nüüd iPad case that leaves the screen wide open, though it’s not clear if the fre includes a screen protector like the iPhone 4s case.

The Lifeproof iPhone 5 case is here as the Lifeproof fre.

The Lifeproof iPhone 5 case doesn’t add significant bulk to the iPhone 5, even though it delivers protection from common smartphone hazards. The case is 12.18 mm thick. That’s 2mm thinner than the OtterBox iPhone 5 Commuter case and 4mm thinner than the OtterBox Defender for iPhone 5, neither of which is waterproof.

Lifeproof designed the iPhone 5 case so that users don’t need to give up functionality for protection. While using the Lifeproof iPhone 5 case, users can still listen to music through the built-in speakers, use headphones, change the volume and use the mute switch as well as access the display and use the camera.

Use the camera while using the Lifeproof iPhone 5 case.

The case includes a “CrystalClear optical-glass lens”, so users can take photographs and videos while using the case. This turns the iPhone 5 into an underwater camera. The back of the case also includes a window so users can show off their Apple logo.

From a protection standpoint, Lifeproof brags that the Lifeproof fre iPhone 5 case is military rated to MIL STD 810F-516 and a IP-68 Ingress Protection Rating, which essentially means the case protects the iPhone 5 form drops of 6.6 foot and seals out dirt, dust and snow. The case will protect the iPhone 5 in water up to 6.6 feet for 30 minutes.

For now Best Buy is the only place shoppers can find the Lifeproof iPhone 5 case in store, and supply is limited for the first several weeks. The Lifeproof fre is out of stock on the Lifeproof site, but shoppers can sign up for a notification. Stay tuned for our Lifeproof fre review.

I’m making $86 an hour working from home. I was shocked when my neighbour told me she was averaging $95 but I see how it works now. I feel so much freedom now that I’m my own boss. This is what I do, Fly26.comCHECK IT OUT

I just got my LifeProof for my IPhone5 thru Best Buy. This is my first Lifeproof case. It passed the waterproof test which is quite impressive. I like how light and thin this case is. I am not a big fan of the way the front window doesn’t fit flush to the phone and forms a bit of a bubble so I have to push a little harder on the top and bottom for get the phone to respond. Also, the sound is horrible when playing music. It vibrates like an old broken speaker. I went into the equalizer and lowered the bass and this helped some but still very poor. If i open the charging door the sound improves but this is very inconvenient. I will be deciding in the next few days if I will be keeping the case. Not impressed…. but as I am outdoors a lot at my kids sporting events, I may just keep the case off until I have outdoor activity.

I got my case today at Best Buy. I agree with S Bal.

Cons: The sound quality is pretty bad. I use my bluetooth headphones often so I am not worry about it. I normally turn the volume off anyway. The protective front screen doesn’t fit flush to the phone. The upper left corner is where I have the most issue with. It is again very annoying.

I just want to mention I can type just as fast with the onscreen keyboard. No complain there.

Pros: I ride my motorcycle and workout daily so having a water proof case is a big plus. It does offer good protection and I don’t have to worry about damaging the phone if I drop it. The case is thin and you can add a strap to it (doesn’t come with one). It looks pretty good compare to other thick and huge cases in the market which offers the similar features. Most of them are not water proof neither. It is easy to put on.

I think I will keep it.

YES! I had the exact same problem. Spent a week on the phone with Verizon only to learn it was the case. Also had problems hanging up calls with the case. Worst 80 bucks ever spent in my life. I took it back to Best Buy.

Hiya I have 2 recommendations for you. (sorry to butt in) I have motorola blue tooth headsets and the sound is amazing. I’m a helicopter pilot so I’ve probably lost some hearing but there are others out there that I am sure would be pleasing to you. 2nd if you decide you hate the case I’d be happy to buy it used from you! So to recap 1. buy bluetooth headset. 2. sell it to me cheap!

Has anyone experienced any problems when using the phone to speak to someone on a call. People say I sound muffled or I get this annoying noise in the background. The kind of noise when u out two microphones together

Yes, I experience the same thing. I am trying to get a response from Lifeproof now. They have had so many calls, they are experiencing phone problems, according to their site! I also have issues with the touch response and the way music sounds. It’s ridiculous. They had a great product with the case for iPhone 4 & 4s. How can it be so hard to get it right for the 5?

Unknown 12… I get that feedback during phone calls all the time. Sometimes I have to ask people to repeat themselves because I can’t hear them over that noise. I haven’t decided if the cons are worth keeping this case.

I had the same problems, I returned it to best buy… it’s not worth the $80. The lady at best buy also told me she heard they will be recalling the case since this is a common problem.

I have had proximity issues and speaker issues and bubbling on the screen. Lifeproof dropped the ball on this case. the 4S case was much better design,

I have had a lifeproof case since the 4s and now one for my 5. Yes the sound is muffled and the screen not quite clear but at work I don’t have to worry about water dough and flour getting all over my phone and ruining it. The touch screen I have had no problems with typing or anything at all with the touch portion of the phone. As far as calls never had anyone tell me I sound muffled or I have not had a problem hearing anyone. Great case for protection and worry free around everyday life accidents.

I too am having the feedback issues during phone calls and inability/difficulty in ending calls due to the proximity issue. I was so excited to get the lifeproof case because my friend had one for the iphone 4s, but this is a big dissapointment. I will be returning it to BestBuy and buying an alternative case. Hopefully lifeproof will recall these cases and fix them!

Had the same problem with the sound and screen looking bubbly. Take a standard index card and fold it in half. Take pair of scissors and trip about 1/2 inch off the end of the index card(not creased edge). Take back side of Lifeproof case off put index card on back side of phone. Put back part of case on and test it out. For me, this totally fixed bubbly screen and the sound quality is 10x better than it was. Try it out, play around and go from there. Hope this helps.

DO NOT BUY LIFEPROOF IPHONE 5 CASE Terrible case for iPhone 5. I’m on second case. Proximity sensor won’t allow phone to hang up. The sound is terrible and no one can understand me when I talk. I spoke to lifeproof they said they would take care of it, that was a week ago so far I have heard nothing. Booooo DO NOT BUY

I had / have the iPhone 4 case and it works beautifully as well as the nud case for the iPad, also no complaints. I was very happy when I got the iPhone 5 case in the mail and I have to say for the first time I am disappointed with Lifeproof. I hear a very annoying buzzing when I’m talking to someone. The incoming audio is muffled. The proximity sensor seems to work in reverse, turning the screen on when it’s near my ear and I end up face mashing the buttons. I think I’ll be returning this one and waiting for the fix. I still have hope as they have done well with the other cases.

I certainly don’t feel it’s the worse $80 spent. I just got mine in the mail today and in the beginning I was a bit pissed with it, however as I have been using it in games and with typing a few emails, I found that many of the problems are actually improving. The speakers don’t have the rattling sound like at first. While I think the screen issue is a bit of a nuisance, I can’t say that my typing speeds have changed overall. One tip: the new screen may make you feel like you have to change the way you type because of the new feel, I just advise you to type as normal. Don’t fear making a mistake, if it happens and autocorrect doesn’t catch it, then I’m sure you will. This tip has helped me type this whole comment with very minimal mistakes.

Lifeproof for my iPad and iphone4 are superb. The new one for my iPhone 5 was horrible. With a bubbly screen and the headphone jack sticking I had to return it. Really disappointed.

Can’t hang it up. End up leaving 10 minute messages when getting voice mail because I can’t end the call (can’t even turn the power off when this happens). Very irritating given the cost.

I will say this much, the two problems that I did have with the case. Lifeproof fixed immediately and did not charge me a penny to fix. They even gave me a tracking number for the replacement parts. The first problem that I had was very minor. It involved the charge port door gasket coming out without me noticing and all I had to do is call and they sent me the new gasket within 5 days. The second problem was with the engineering of the case itself. The small hole for the proximity sensor was not designed correctly and was causing the phone proximity sensor to not respond correctly. This kept causing problems with the phone’s functionality during phone calls. I thought it was the iphone for the longest, until I tried using the iPhone 5 out of the lifeproof case and it worked perfect. Again, I called lifeproof instantly the assured me that there had been an issue with the proximity sensor port and that they would send me out a new front the following day at no charge. They would even send me a tracking number for the part being shipped so that I could keep up with the progress of the shipping of the replacement part. Lifeproof is amazing and I am very impressed with the customer service and commitment to quality and keeping the consumer happy! Thanks for going the extra mile to make things right.
