While neither AT&T nor Pantech has officially announced the Pantech Magnus, images of the smartphone were recently leaked. According to the leak, the device will launch with Android 4.0 and an upgrade to Android Jelly Bean will be forthcoming. It’s still unclear when the high-end mid-range number will officially debut on AT&T’s 4G LTE network, but the device has been spotted in various leaks since Spring.
Press photos of the Pantech Magnus were leaked on Twitter by user @evleaks.
In a prior leak, we had seen a rendering of the device and the backside of the Pantech Magnus looks like it could have been a sibling of Verizon’s HTC Droid Incredible series as the device has a similar topographical back.
The Pantech Magnus is expected to come with a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor from Qualcomm, 1 GB RAM, a 4.3-inch display, and an 8-megapixel camera.
Had the device launched when it was initially leaked, it would have commanded the high-end segment on AT&T’s network. Considering its potential late launch now, the device will probably be considered a high-end mid-range device when it debuts, especially when compared to the range of quad-core devices that are beginning the emerge today.
Given the number of devices that AT&T has introduced recently for the holiday shopping season, it looks like that as the Magnus didn’t make the cut, the Pantech-made device may not debut until 2013.
