Published

on

It looks like at least one version of the Nexus 4 has seen its shipping times improve as the 16GB Nexus 4 has dropped from shipping times listed at six to seven weeks to five to six weeks today.

Earlier today, the 16GB Nexus 4 was listed at shipping out in six to seven weeks through the U.S. version of the Google Play Store. Now, it appears that for the first time since the device went out of stock in late November, shipping times for the 16GB Nexus 4 have improved and now sit at five to six weeks. Obviously, it’s not as big of a jump as customers would like but it’s a good sign nonetheless.

The 16GB Nexus 4 shipping times improved for the first time today.

The 8GB Nexus 4 remains out of stock at the moment and Google has told us that it has no information to share as to the timing of the 8GB Nexus 4’s availability which means it could be awhile before it returns. Prior to its sell out, the device was listed as shipping out in up to three months.

The 16GB Nexus 4’s shipping times have never reached those points and now it appears that Google is working to meet the high demand for the Nexus 4, its latest Nexus smartphone.

Even with the improvement though, it still appears that customers who order won’t get their Nexus 4 until well into 2013 which means that those who didn’t order but still want to give one as a gift will likely have to go through online auction sites like eBay where prices are much more expensive then Google’s $299 and $349 asking prices on its Google Play Store.

The price, along with the Nexus 4’s high-end features, have made it a hot commodity in every region where the device is being sold. Google sold out of its initial stock on day one of the device’s availability. Google then put the device up for sale again on the Google Play Store in the U.S. in late November though it sold out within minutes. Since then, those interested in the device have been looking at increasingly bad shipping times.

That is, until today.

So does that mean original shipping times for orders showing 2-3 weeks will ship sooner?? — I really hope so :)

Same here. I hope so. Luckily I ordered my 16GB during the second wave and my confirmation email said 2-3 weeks. Hoping to have it soon!

I ordered one right at noon today (in Canada) and my order claims “Estimated Ship:
    1-2 weeks”

This is strange. I ordered (US) my 16GB Nexus 4 yesterday (12/4) and today it shipped and is on track to arrive tomorrow. I called Google Play to make sure it wasn’t a mistake . They said the device is on its way. I wasn’t expecting to have it until January at the earliest.
