The 8GB Nexus 4 is once again completely sold out through the Google and it’s unclear when the device will arrive back in stock.

A short time ago. the 8GB Nexus 7 shipping times were bumped to nine to ten weeks, meaning those who ordered the device wouldn’t see their device ship out for over two months. Now, consumers are unable to order the 8GB Nexus 4 altogether with the site now displaying the same red “Sold Out” sign that accompanied the device when it first went out of stock at the beginning November.

It could be that given the previous time of nine to ten weeks, that those who didn’t place an order before it went out of stock might not be able to get a Nexus 4 through Google for three months or more. Google hasn’t said when the Nexus 4 might come back into stock. The 16GB Nexus 4 remains in-stock but backordered. The 16GB Nexus 4 is currently listed as shipping out in six to seven weeks, meaning owners won’t get the device for almost two months.

The Nexus 4 sold out on its first day of availability in the beginning of November. Later in the month, the device came back into stock but only for a few minutes. Shortly after it went on sale again, stock sold out completely though Google left the device up for sale. Shipping times then progressively got worse, with estimated shipping timing pushed into 2013.

The Nexus 4′s sell out has prompted online auction site eBay to place restrictions on the Nexus 4 in order to prevent abuse that might occur on the site due to the overwhelming demand for Google’s new device.

  • Authorized resellers will be allowed to list an unlimited number of items per week.
  • eBay Top Rated Sellers will be allowed to list up to 8 items per week.
  • All sellers meeting minimum performance standards will be allowed to list 4 items per week.
  • New sellers who’ve confirmed their personal information may list 1 item per week.

For those that didn’t pick up the Nexus 4 when it was on sale, sites like eBay will likely be the only way to purchase the Nexus 4 for at least a few weeks if not a few months. Unfortunately, most of the asking prices are far more expensive than the $299 and $349 price tags that can be found on the Google Play Store.
