HTC Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update List Leaks

Published

on

While HTC remains mum on many of the specific devices getting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a leaked list from a notorious leakster seems to confirm the update for at least some of the devices in HTC’s massive lineup of smartphones including the Droid Incredible 4G LTE and the long-awaited HTC EVO 4G LTE Jelly Bean update.

The leak comes courtesy of the Football4PDA Twitter account which has proved reliable in the past. The tweet is a list of phones that the leakster says will be getting Android Jelly Bean at some point from HTC. Some of them are obvious, like the HTC One S, but there are others on there that still haven’t received any official roll out information from the company.

The Droid Incredible 4G LTE will apparently get Jelly Bean.

HTC’s leaked Jelly Bean update list reveals that a host of devices will be getting the update. The list includes the HTC Evitare, Evita, Fireball, Jewel, К2, TotemC2, Ville, VilleC2 and Valente. For many users that list won’t make any sense because those names are code names and not the actual names of devices that are currently available on the market.

Translated, the list actually suggests that the One X+ LTE, One XL, Droid Incredible 4G LTE, EVO 4G LTE, One SV, One VX, One S, One S C2 and HTC J will be getting Android Jelly Bean updates at some point though there is elaboration on any timing for these devices.

The update confirmation is apparently for Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and not for Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latter of which is the latest piece of Android software from Google. So, it appears that these devices will get outfitted with Android 4.1 before the Android 4.2 update arrives. That should not be too surprising to owners of these devices.

There are definitely some notable names not on this list, including the HTC Sensation series and the HTC ThunderBolt, and the leakster says that the HTC Sensation series won’t get Android Jelly Bean from HTC. Keep in mind, this is pure rumor at this point and none of it has been confirmed by HTC. However, the person behind this account has been accurate in the past and it wouldn’t be a shock to see it play out this way,

Thus far, HTC has rolled out Jelly Bean updates for the HTC One X and HTC One S though neither of those updates has hit devices in the United States.

“There are definitely some notable names not on this list, including the HTC Sensation series and the HTC ThunderBolt.” Ha. The Thunderbolt isn’t even getting ICS. 37 days left in my HTC life. NEVER AGAIN.

Actually there’s a Developer leak for ICS for ThunderBolt. If you have a rooted phone you can flash it to ICS. I have to say ICS on Thunderbolt looked wicked awesome and moves wicked fast

Having owned an HTC Thunderbolt since it first came out, I’m fedup with HTC and tired of waiting for the update. They can keep it at this point. I’m eyeballing the Samsung 4 in April. No more HTC for me.. they treat their customers like crap.

It don’t know that I will be comfortable staying with HTC if they choose not to update the Sensation 4G, which was their flagship phone a little more than a year ago. With two-year contracts being the norm, mobile customers expect full support and updates for the duration of that term, barring hardware limitations.

I’m going with Samsung phones now there neck and neck with apple, I want the best phone with frequent up dates to it, then 2 year contract would be worth it, HTC is garbage, just like dominos pizza was then they got there act together

I, too, am livid with anger at HTC and Verizon over their terrible treatment of the Thunderbolt and owners. I will deprive them of revenue ASAP and never look back. Textbook example of how to alienate your customers and create bad press. Nicely done, a**hats.

I have had enough of HTC, sensation owners are been ignored. ICS messed up my phone and it tooks months for the apps to catch up. Samsung here we come on the next upgrade in 3 mths time.

Okay, so the crappy, inferior Droid Incredible 4G with lower specs then the Rezound will get 4.1but the Rezound will not be getting it? Um, wow! I have a feeling that this is not HTC But Verizon. This way they can sell their other crap that has 4.1. Man, the next carrier I’m going with is who ever has the best Nexus at the time. I’m tired of this waiting for ever for new operating system nonsense. It’s simple logic, go Nexus and you don’t have to wait.

I have been using Sensation 4G for almost 2 years. It is the first and last time that I am going to own an Android phone as well as and HTC. Looking forward to dumping it very soon for a (flame off) Win 8 Phone. A couple of friends got one and I got to play with it.

windows 8 phones are way too new and undeveloped to be of interest to me. im sure the gates fanboys will iron out the problems but its not for me. htc is crap i admit but at least android is developed now with a great app store. im glad at least you didnt go to apple!! lol

Have the Rezound and disgusted with HTC. The Rezound has been a good phone although I feel that my Droid and Droid X2 had better call quality. That being said, the Rezound has been smooth and reliable. My gripe is the lack of support with regards to updates. The Rezound has could easily support Jelly Bean and most likely Key Lime. The fact that HTC is not providing even Jelly Bean means that I will not buy another HTC even though I have liked the Rezound. Samsung or Nexus here I come.

Jelly bean updates will be mainly for devices with the NFC chip built in. If to want jelly bean root your device and flash AOSP, AOKP, or Cyanogenmod. That easy, if not kawichabitchin!

dissapointed htc sensation 4g isn’t getting jellybean..I mean I know its getting on a bit now but its still a pretty decent phone and was once htc’s flagship phone..I know a lot of people still using the sensation and they are not happy..if your in a 2 year contract you expect your device to be fully updated..the phone can easily handle jellybean so wtf is goin on HTC?? never again!! – a peed off uk sensation owner..
