HTC EVO 4G LTE Jelly Bean Update Now Available from Sprint

The HTC EVO 4G LTE Jelly Bean update, which was rumored to be out today, is now rolling out to owners of Sprint’s 4G LTE device after a fairly lengthy wait.

Several owners of the HTC EVO 4G LTE have confirmed to Gotta Be Mobile that the update is indeed rolling out and that owners who wish to install the update simply need to head into the device’s settings and pull the update manually. Once that is completed, the update should show a prompt and the download and installation process of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean should begin.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE Jelly Bean update is now available.

Those with the HTC EVO 4G LTE will want to set aside some time to install the update as it is nearly 400MB in size, around 396 to be exact, and that means it will take some time to download, install and reboot.

Once the device reboots, the EVO 4G LTE will no longer be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich but Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, an older version of Android Jelly Bean that rolled out back in July.

For those that are installing the update, here is what’s new:

  • Upgrade to Android 4.1.1 and HTC Sense 4+ Update
  • Enhanced UI with Better Performance in Camera
  • New Landing Page and Event/Map View in Gallery
  • Power management improvement
  • Sprint Connection Optimizer

We imagine that there will be quite a bit more in terms of enhancements and bug fixes, all of which should help to shore up the experience on the HTC EVO 4G LTE.

The update comes a short time after Sprint started listing Android 4.1 Jelly Bean as the HTC EVO 4G LTE’s operating system on its website. It did so prior to the update’s availability which seemed to point to today being the day that the update would finally roll out.

Now, after this roll out, the wait for the latest version of Jelly Bean, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean begins.

It broke my headphone jack! It doesn’t detect that I’ve plugged anything in… The HTC Weather app is also broken.
