The Samsung Galaxy S2 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, which previously had been rumored for a roll out in the fourth quarter of 2012, now appears that it may roll out at some point in 2013.

Originally, Samsung Sweden claimed that the Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean update would be heading out at some point in November. November came and went and soon after, the Swedish wing of Samsung said it would be rolling out in November or December, tacking on December as a possible roll out month. Now Samsung Sweden says that the update will be rolling out in December or January which should mean that the first Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean updates won’t roll out until January.

The Galaxy S2 may not see Jelly Bean until January.

SamMobile reports that it too believes the Galaxy S2 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update will be rolling out in January and not 2012 as was expected by many who own the aging Galaxy S2. Obviously, this is not good news for owners of the Galaxy S2, especially those in Sweden who have been following along hoping that the update would be out in December of this year.

No reason was given for the shift in timing of the Galaxy S2 update and owners should hope that the update rolls out in early January as a later holiday gift from Samsung. Keep in mind, Samsung’s main branch has never offered up any specific information other than to say that the update is indeed on the way so it’s Samsung Sweden that seems to be at fault here. And thus, given its past, we can’t tag this as anything but rumor.

It’s unclear if this delay will affect the timing of the Rogers Galaxy S2 Jelly Bean update, which is scheduled for late January. We supposed that the AT&T Galaxy S2 could get the update around that time as well as Rogers and AT&T have a habit of rolling out their updates in close proximity of each other.

Other Galaxy S2 variants on Sprint and T-Mobile are completely in the dark at this point, though, Sprint has made it a point to beat its opponents out of the gate lately and it could wind up getting its Epic 4G Touch Jelly Bean before the others.

For now, owners of the Galaxy S2 who wish to get Jelly Bean early will likely want to take a look at the leaked version that emerged earlier this year.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will replace Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on the Galaxy S2, an update that brings a host of improvements including Google Now, improved Notifications and widgets, a smoother user interface and more. The version of the update that should be coming to the Galaxy S2, Android 4.1.2, the latest from Samsung.

@ Sorry dude – I have no bad feelings at all – seriously!
Infact Samsung has already rolled out a couple of updates to S2, so I guess they are quite ahead in giving updates compared to others.
I own both an atrix 4G and a Galaxy S2 and in my opinion, I am even happier than sad for my S2 because Samsung is still trying to give us top of the line Android version even on a 2 year old phone by now!!!
On the other hand motorola only gave us disappointment by keep on promising for an ICS update, but finally refused to do so – and that also without giving any reason for it.
So let’s cheer and look forward to update no matter if its a couple of month delayed.
