HTC Still Working on Droid Incredible 2 ICS Update, Months After Delay

In the saga of missing Android updates, one of the more overlooked chapters is that of the Droid Incredible 2 which, like the HTC ThunderBolt, was promised Ice Cream Sandwich all the way back in August. And now, nearly four months later, Droid Incredible 2 owners, like their HTC ThunderBolt counterparts, are still searching for solid answers as to the whereabouts of their software.

While HTC’s more publicized delay has been that of the HTC ThunderBolt ICS update, Droid Incredible 2 owners have joined them for this lengthy ride that is about to hit the four month mark once the calendar turns to 2013. Like HTC ThunderBolt owners, Droid Incredible 2 owners have been without any concrete answers ever since HTC acknowledged that it wasn’t going to get the software out in time.

Four months after it was delayed, Droid Incredible 2 owners still are without concrete answers in regards to their promised Ice Cream Sandwich update.

And so, like ThunderBolt owners have, Droid Incredible 2 users have reached out to HTC and Verizon in attempts to garner information about the updates. Unfortunately, the Droid Incredible 2’s Android 4.0 web of mystery is as large as the ThunderBolt’s.

Earlier today, we told you that HTC’s Twitter account exclaimed that the HTC ThunderBolt Ice Cream Sandwich update would be here soon. But what about the Droid Incredible 2’s ICS update?

Well, according to HTC USA and HTC, the company is still working hard on the update nearly four months after it was supposed to have pushed it out to owners of the aging Android smartphone.

There are a few observations to take away from HTC’s comments about the Droid Incredible 2 ICS update:

  • It appears that HTC still has plans to roll it out though it did not respond when pressed for confirmation.
  • HTC has been seemingly been working hard on this update since May, which is when it confirmed Android 4.0 for the Droid Incredible 2. And maybe even longer than that considering ICS came out in December of 2011.
  • This is a mess.

Since August, HTC has been full of non-answers other than a couple of breaks in the script. Even HTC Desire HD owners, who missed out on Ice Cream Sandwich, were at least given a swift response in regards to the update. It wasn’t the response that they wanted to hear, but at least, it was a response.

Droid Incredible 2 owners are still waiting for that response and from the looks of things, they may not be getting that response until sometime in 2013.
