If you just got a Kindle Fire we’re here to show you how to set it up, how to secure it and how to set parental controls.

Setting up the Kindle Fire takes about 15 to 30 minutes and to completely set it up you will need an Internet connection. You can connect to a home network later, so it’s ok to set it up at someone else’s house.

Although the setup is a fairly easy process be sure to do the following for the smoothest and easiest way to get your Kindle Fire up and running.

The first thing to do is to set the main language of the device. With the main language set, the next step is to connect to a WiFi network. The reason the device needs to connect to WiFi is so that it can be setup to with either an existing Amazon account or the user can create one.

Search for the WiFi network that you use in your home and enter the security key if needed.

Once connected to the WiFi network sign into the Amazon account if you already have one. If not go through the steps to create an account.

When done, select the timezone in which you live and confirm your Amazon account.

Next you may enter your Facebook and Twitter information to make sharing posts and tweets a lot easier.

Setting a passcode on your Kindle Fire is a good idea so that people cannot read your email or buy apps without your knowledge. This video shows how to set up a passcode in a few simple steps.

Another measure of Security that the Kindle Fire has are Parental Controls. This is a very useful tool for those who are giving the Kindle Fire to their children, but also want them to be safe while using the device.

Using the Kindle Fire

To install applications on your Kindle Fire select Apps from the main screen and then Tap Store in the top right.

How to Setup Email on the Kindle Fire

  1. On the home screen Tap Apps.
  2. Scroll down and Select Email.
  3. At the bottom of the screen Tap Start.
  4. Select your e-mail provider.
  5. Enter your email address and password
  6. Type in the name you like to display for the account and check the box if you would like that email address to be used as the default account.
Tap View your inbox to see your email.
