Sony Odin Launching as Xperia X?

Published

After it was revealed through leaks that the Sony Yuga will launch as the Xperia Z, it looks like another Sony phablet, the Odin, may be launching at CES as the Xperia X. It’s unclear what the differences between the Xperia X and Z will be as both devices boast commendable and very similar specs, including a large 5-inch full HD 1080p display with quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processors from Qualcomm.

According to a leak posted on Android Authority, Sony may introduce the Xperia X at the Consumer Electronics Show in January and make the device available globally later.

Both the Odin and Yuga are expected to sport Sony’s new backside illuminated 13-megapixel image sensor with LED flash. Though there has been delays from Sony’s end on releasing this new Exmor sensor, partners such as Oppo–which itself is releasing a competing phablet in the form of the unlocked Find 5–have been releasing teaser shots that have been captured with the new 13-megapixel sensor showing that the sensor has great dynamic range and is able to retain fine details.

Additional specs for the Xperia X smartphone include 2 GB RAM for multitasking, 32 GB internal storage, micro SD card for expansion, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and 4G LTE network support. The device is expected to debut in North America, Asia, and Europe.

2013 is shaping up to be the year of 5-inch phablets with full 1080p HD resolution displays and it appears that Sony may have two models with these specs available.
