5 Apps We Want with the iOS 6 Jailbreak

Published

on

While we wait for the iOS 6 jailbreak release, we want to share some of the apps we can’t wait to use when we can jailbreak the iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S.

All of these apps already work with the iOS 6 jailbreak, but they are limited to the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. After the iOS 6 release, developers will need to update the apps to support the larger screen of the iPhone 5.

At least one of these apps, IntelliscreenX is already partially working on the iPhone 5, which is good news for users patiently waiting for work to complete on the iOS 6 jailbreak.

We’ve seen progress on the iOS 6 jailbreak front, and there is hope that pod2g is going to work with @planetbeing and others to make the iPhone 5 jailbreak a reality within the next six months, but for now users can not jailbreak the newest Apple devices.

5 Icon Dock

One of the simplest jailbreak apps we want on the iPhone 5 is the 5 icon dock. Even with an extra row of apps on each home screen, former jailbreak users will surely miss the convenience of keeping just one more app on the dock for fast access from any screen.

Use five icons in the dock with a jailbreak.

This simple, but awesome iOS tweak is one of the first we’ll install after jailbreaking the iPhone 5.

Auxo

Auxo is the latest major iOS 6 jailbreak app to catch our eye and hopefully Apple’s eye. Auxo is a new app switcher that ditches app icons in favor of small cards, but it doesn’t stop there. In addition to looking really nice it adds functionality we’d love to have on our iPhone.

The video below shows how easy it is to kill an app, or even multiple apps with a single swipe. It also shows the new music player screen available with a double tap of the home button.

Perhaps the best new feature outside of app switching is the fast access to controls. By adding WiFi, Airplane Mode and other items to the menu users no longer need to dive into settings for fast toggles.

Browser Chooser

Chrome is a great iPhone browser, but without the ability to set the browser as default users will end up in Safari when clicking links.

Browser Chooser is a simple tweak that sets something other than Safari as the default browser, streamlining the experience and offering choice where Apple offers none.

IntelliscreenX

The iPhone lock screen is wasted in most views, only showing recent notifications until the phone is unlocked, but with IntelliscreenX, users can do more on the home screen.

IntelliscreenX puts calendar events, emails, text messages and social networks like Facebook and Twitter on the home screen. Users can also look at news through a built-in RSS reader.

The video above shows off the many IntelliscreenX features. We’ve seen IntelliscreenX running on an iPhone 5 once already.

f.lux

Another jailbreak only tweak we can’t wait to use on the iPhone 5 is f.lux. This cool app is a must have for any iPhone or iPad user that stays up late looking at the screen.

f.lux changes the iPhone screen so it doesn’t keep you up later.

f.lux changes the color, brightness and temperature of the screen so that it doesn’t keep you awake long after you put the device down.

Work continues on the iOS 6 jailbreak, and now that pod2g is on his way back to helping with the iOS 6 jialbreak we may see a swifter public release.

Stay tuned for the latest iOS 6 jailbreak news.

Yes! Sbsettings is a very useful app. Apple needs to learn from these tweaks and start putting them in there iOS.

Pointless article. Ios7 will be released before a jailbreak. Our only hope is that apple realise they need to go open market with the next iOS before everyone switches to android/windows!

Saying that, planet being apparently has a jailbreak running, but is waiting for 6.1 to release it so that the exploit used isn’t patched immediately, which makes sense. However, I wouldn’t put it past apple to just sit on 6.0.2 until ios7 is ready, knowing that its more than likely been cracked. Defiantly cat and mouse, only us jail breakers are the mice, cheeseless with 1 foot caught in the trap! Which for me, just reassures me that android is a lot less hassle, waiting, and as it stands, better!

Moved to galaxy III as I could not jail break. Having been loyal to apple for many years I was little nervous. Best thing I did. Goodbye apple :-) android is pretty good to.

The most compelling reason for jailbreaking is piracy, which i don’t need to tell you, is a double edged sword. On one hand it pushes hardware sales. On the other, developers are scared of making apps for you.

The best you can hope for, and what Android cyber-warriors seem to be doing these days, is to persuade iSheep to cross over to Android. Since iSheep have always been God-fearing and law-abiding netizens, they can be counted on to pay the full price for apps, therefore freeing pirates from such obligation. This will ensure that apps will keep coming out for their OS.

This is simply history repeating itself.
