Samsung Galaxy S4 Launch Date Rumored for First Quarter, Again

The Samsung Galaxy S4 launch date has once again been rumored to be taking place at some point in the first quarter of this year, a time frame that has popped up several times in the past few weeks.

Previously, the Galaxy S4 has been rumored to either be arriving at Mobile World Congress in February, the same event at which it announced the Samsung Galaxy S2 back in 2011 and the event that Samsung skipped entirely with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S3 which took place in May of 2012.

Gotta Be Mobile has heard from a well-known accessory maker that it expects that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will launch at some point in the first quarter, though it would not elaborate on any kind of specific timing for the launch of the device. It’s not strange for an accessory maker to have advance access to launch details, we saw iPhone 5 and iPad mini accessories leak out in the summer of 2012, and so far, February has been pegged several times as the Galaxy S4 launch month.

What’s more is that Samsung is reportedly as CES 2013 showing off a Galaxy S4 prototype to carrier executives behind closed doors in an attempt to woo carriers. With carriers like ZTE and Huawei set to debut new smartphones at the trade show in Las Vegas, and Samsung likely without a strong mobile presence, the company wants to keep carriers in the fold for the next big thing.

That next big thing will very likely be the Samsung Galaxy S4, a device that has popped up in a plentiful amount of rumors over the last month. Thus far, rumors point to the device as having a 5-inch AMOLED HD display with 1080p resolution, a quad-core processor possibly of the Exynos variety, 13MP camera, Android Jelly Bean or Android Key Lime Pie, and 2GB of RAM.

Samsung itself has predicted that the Samsung Galaxy S4 won’t arrive until May but so far, the company has not divulged any specific information on the Galaxy S4, its features or its launch date and likely won’t until the launch event draws closer.
