Published

The Nexus 4 bumper case, which has been sold out through the Google Play Store for several weeks now, is now back in stock for Nexus 4 owners to pick up. Sort of.

For quite some time now, the official Nexus 4 bumper case has been sold out through Google’s Play Store, with no estimated shipping time and no word from Google about when it may come back into stock. That has, of course, left Nexus 4 owners looking for other potential options. One of those options is to buy the Nexus 4 bumper case for exorbitant prices through resellers like eBay or Craigslist or deal with backorders through other means.

An unofficial Nexus 4 bumper case has emerged on Amazon.

There is, however, another route. A knock-off Nexus 4 bumper case has surfaced on Amazon with availability listed as January 20th, just a few days from now. The case is listed at a cheap $12.95 and those who pre-order will get an extra $5 off knocking the price down to a mere $7.95. Best of all, the accessory is currently listed as “in-stock” meaning that those who order now can get a case, similar to the official Nexus 4 bumper case.

The third-party bumper case is made of thermoplastic polyurethane and polycarbonate material as well as built-in volume controls and power buttons. It’s also form-fitting and will keep the Nexus 4 slim much like the official Nexus 4 bumper case.

While we recommend the official bumper case, those who are impatient or don’t want to spend a ton of money will certainly want to give this unofficial case a look.

The unofficial bumper case looks exactly like the official Nexus 4 bumper case, seen here.

Since 2012, Google has been dealing with a host of supply issues involving the actual Nexus 4 as well as its accessories. Since December, the unlocked Nexus 4 has been completely sold out through Google’s Play Store. The bumper case has seen a similar fate while the previously announced Wireless Charging Orb, a wireless charging accessory for the Nexus 4, has yet to even show up on Google’s Play Store.

Google has refused comment about the Wireless Charging Orb’s availability leaving those who have been fortunate enough to snag a Nexus 4 wondering if it will ever make it to shelves.

Thanks, Joesph!

Read the title of this article and got excited; then came away feeling disappointed…These knockoffs have been known since December on the XDA forums.

As the other poster shave confirmed, the $5 discount seems to be gone as it’s showing $12.95 on the Amazon link for this particular knockoff.

I’d buy it for $8 shipped (though who knows if it’s coming from China with a long 2 week delivery timeframe),

But what I really want is the official bumper from the play store. Come on Google — talk to us and give us some information on availability. It’s been one whole month since they were last in stock and I’m getting tired of checking everyday to see when it comes back in stock.

I got my official bumper thanks to someone mentioning whohas.it on XDA.
