While Samsung Galaxy S3 owners in the United States continue to wait for their Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, even more users across the pond in the United Kingdom have see their Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update roll out.

ThreeUK in the United Kingdom confirmed that its Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update is now available through Samsung Kies, Samsung’s software that allows users to update their device using their PC. It’s also available through an Over-the-Air update which means that users will be able to download and install the update through the Galaxy S3’s Settings, in the About section.

The Galaxy S3 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update is still missing in the U.S.

The update is not just a standard in-between Android update. Instead, it brings a “Premium Suite” along with it, something that includes a number of interesting and useful upgrades for Galaxy S3 owners.

Included in the “Premium Suite” is the Multi Window View feature that is prominent on the Galaxy Note 2. It allows users to split up the Galaxy S3′s display into two sections, each running a separate application. For instance, in one section of the display, users could run Twitter while in the other, be checking the web or email.

The update also brings the new Gallery app that’s found in the Galaxy Note 2 software, Page Buddy, a customizable Notification panel, a keyboard similar to the Gesture-enhanced keyboard in Android 4.2, a smart screen rotation feature and more. Unfortunately it’s not Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the latest from Google, but it’s a great update nonetheless.

This is yet another roll out for the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update and one that continues to elude Galaxy S3 users in the United States. We’ve been hearing January 25th is a key date for Samsung for the U.S. version of the update, but at this point neither the carriers nor Samsung have confirmed anything.

At this point, it’s looking like the U.S. will be last to the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update, something that shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise given that most Android updates typically hit U.S. customers last.

This is really starting to bug me I have been looking forward to this update but it seems the fact that Sprint just released the 4.1.1 update they are in no hurry to do another update. According to Samsung Sprint already has the update and it is now in their court to release it. I would like to see a poll based on company either by carrier or phone maker that says “Does the lack of Android updates on your device or Carrier Play a factor on purchasing a specific make/model phone?”

Yes it does! If Sprint, At&t etc don’t step it up with the rest of the world. Androids in the U.S are starting to lag! Don’t pick us up and leave us like I phone users have been done.

I really feel sorry for our US friends who don’t get these updates in a timely manner. I’ve had 4.1.2 for a couple of weeks, and I can no longer remember life before 4.1.1! Why on earth does it take US carriers longer than anyone else?

I mean I know the USA is not the biggest market not even by a long shot but seriously why does it take so long in the USA for anything to get done. It is like High Speed Internet I remember reading an article about 10 yrs ago that said you could get 10Mbps connection on every street corner on your side of the world and it was like $20 a month. We have to pay $100 a month for 100Mbps connection now :)

I’m hoping this new update will allow me 2, once again, save my apps on my SD card without having to Root my phone. Even though jellybean is supposed to be this great version of Android, it sucks big time that I can no longer save my apps to my sd card once I did the OTA update from the ICS to JB last year.
If anyone can help me with the issue of saving my apps to my sd card without having to root my galaxy s3, I would appreciate it!
Please reply to this comment if you can help.
    :-)
