iOS 6 Jailbreak Team Forms Evad3rs Dev Team

Published

The big names behind the iOS 6 jailbreak release formed the Evad3rs Dev Team today.

@pod2g, @MuscleNerd, @Planetbeing and @pimskeks are the founding members of the Evad3rs. This group officially joins together the biggest names behind the iOS 6 jailbreak, many of which were already working together.

The group was part of the iOS Dream Team of hackers responsible in large part for the iPhone 4S jailbreak last year. The team is not taking donations towards their efforts on the iOS 6 jailbreak.

The group launched the @evad3rs twitter account which will likely be where the iOS 6 jailbreak release is announced.

This group is responsible for most of the photos of an iPhone 5 jailbreak, an iPad 4 jailbreak and an iPad mini jailbreak on real devices.

Teamwork is a large part of the IOS 6 jailbreak process. When @pod2g and @planetbeing began working together in early January after releasing his first iPad app.

A new iOS 6 jailbreak dev team, the Evad3rs is teamed up to speed up the release of a public iPhone 5 jailbreak.

In the past few weeks we’ve heard that the teamwork is creating a bright future for jailbreaking, with quick progress on the iOS 6 jailbreak. In one week of work, the Evad3rs team discovered several new vulnerabilities and reported nice progress. Planetbeing shared on Reddit that while testing @pod2g’s latest vulnerability he found a separate vulnerability that replaced an exploit the team wants to save for future jailbreaks.

The Evad3rs team will likely launch a website and a new iOS 6 jailbreak tool in the near future. The last major jailbreak came from the Chronic Dev Team website and carried the Absinthe name. iPhone 4 and older devices can currently be jailbroken with RedSn0w.

The iOS 6 jailbreak in testing by the Evad3rs is an untethered jailbreak, which we’ve seen up and running on an iPhone 5.

It’s not clear when the iOS 6 jailbreak release will take place. We do know that the team is waiting for the iOS 6.1 release before a public release of the iPhone 5 jailbreak. It’s not clear if the iOS 6 jailbreak will be for the iOS 6 a versions currently on the iPhone 5 and iPad 4, which are minor IOS 6.0.2 and iOS 6.0.1 versions, or if it will be a full iOS 6.1 jailbreak release.

The last pubic update said that iOS 6.1 broke part of the iPhone 5 jailbreak, but it’s possible the team will figure a way around this so users can jailbreak the iPhone 5 and iPad on the most current version of iOS. For now users should not update to iOS 6.1 in case this is only an iOS 6 jailbreak.

Stay tuned for the latest iOS 6 jailbreak news and when to expect a public release.

Awesome progress! However, when my contract is up I’m getting an Android. I will not be held hostage again like this.
