Samsung Reportedly Prepping for Record Galaxy S4 Launch

Those worried that the Samsung Galaxy S4 launch might encounter the same supply woes that we’ve seen with LG and the Nexus 4 shouldn’t be worried yet as a new report claims that Samsung is planning accordingly for the Galaxy S4′s anticipated arrival.

Korean publication Money Talk claims that Samsung is anticipating selling 10 million Galaxy S4 units per month and has ordered parts from its supplies to meet that type of demand. And while that is obviously just a supply chain rumor at this point, it’s not surprising to hear that Samsung is preparing for such a huge launch given the high profile of the Galaxy S4 and the record setting launch of the Galaxy S4.

The Galaxy S4, seen here in a mockup, is rumored for a March launch.

Since it launched in May, the Galaxy S3 has gone on to sell over 40 million units worldwide and it appears that Samsung is betting on the Galaxy S4 shattering the records of its predecessor. It’s possible that Samsung may be overestimating how many Galaxy S4′s it will sell, but as we’ve seen with the launch of the Nexus 4, underestimating supply can cause quite a bit of damage.

In the case of the Nexus 4, its manufacturer LG has claimed that Google vastly underestimated how many units it would sell, leading to a massive shortage of the new Nexus smartphone. The device has been extremely hard to find since November, and has been sold out through the Google Play Store since December.

Samsung cannot afford to let that happen with the launch of the Galaxy S4, a device that will be taking on the iPhone 5 and presumably, the iPhone 5S as well. And with it needing to supply huge demand for carriers in the United States and abroad, it makes sense that the company would be ordering more parts than it has in the past.

The company is rumored to be announcing the Galaxy S4 at an Unpacked event on March 22nd with a release date coming at some point in April. If true, it would mean that the release of the Galaxy S4 would come a month earlier than the May release of the Galaxy S3 in 2012.

Samsung’s latest smartphone is expected to have a 4.99-inch FHD display with 1080p resolution, a quad-core processor, 13MP camera, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on board as its operating system.
