AT&T Galaxy S4 User Agent Possibly Found on Samsung Server

Published

on

Samsung’s server includes a user agent for a 1080P smartphone with naming that points to an AT&T smartphone, which could be the AT&T Galaxy S4.

Japanese site ameblo.jp discovered the user agent on SamsungMobile.com, reported on by SamMobile. The user agent for the “SAMSUNG-SGH-I337” points to an AT&T smartphone with a 1080P HD display.

AT&T & Samsung use the SGH-I__7 naming convention for Samsung smartphones on AT&T, which could explain why the user agent doesn’t carry the GT-9500 model number found on Samsung earlier this month.

Galaxy S4 user agent

User agent shows a Samsung Smartphone for AT&T with a 1080P display, possibly the Galaxy S4.

The screenshot above shows the Samsung SGH 1337 user agent on SamsungMobile’s server. The inclusion of a 1080P HD display in the section highlighted above points to the possibility that this is the Samsung Galaxy S4 for AT&T.

One oddity is that this model number is lower than the AT&T Galaxy S3 (SGH-I747). Users can see the AT&T Galaxy S3 user agent on SamsungMobile. Another reasons we approach this skeptically is the model number “I337” is internet slang for “Leet”, or “Elite”.

Even with the interesting naming convention, the only Samsung smartphone we know of headed for the U.S. with a 1080P HD display in the near future is the Samsung Galaxy S4. Rumors point to a Galaxy S4 with a 4.99-inch 1080x 1920 display and support for the S-Pen. The user agent doesn’t offer much more in terms of device details. If the Samsung SGH 1337 user agent isn’t for the Galaxy S4, it could signal a second Samsung smartphone for the U.S. with a 1080P HD display.

Galaxy S4 Display Rumored 1080P

Rumors point to a 1080P 4.99-inch display for the Galaxy S4.

Recent Galaxy S4 rumors suggest Samsung is working on a new display technology to pack more pixels into a display, pushing pixel density above 440-pixels-per-inch, which could lead to sharper looking displays.

Samsung’s user agent profile’s tipped the release of a Samsung smartphone at the end of 2012, so it’s not out of the question that Samsung is preparing for the Galaxy S4 launch with a new user agent. The user agent for the Samsung Galaxy Premier appeared on SamsungMobile.com in September, a month-and-a-half before the announcement and roughly three-and-a-half months before the December release.

Samsung is planning a Galaxy S4 launch at an Unpacked Mobile event in March in the U.S. according to recent rumors. Samsung used Mobile Unpacked events to announce the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2, so it makes sense that the company would host a large launch for the U.S. version of the Galaxy S4.

Follow up rumors point to a Galaxy S4 release date in April 2013, though it is unclear if this rumor is addressing the global release, which typically arrives before a U.S. release when it comes to Samsung’s flagship devices.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is expected to sport a 4.99-inch 1080P display, a quad-core processor and a 13MP camera according to recent rumors. The flagship smartphone will likely run Android 4.2 at launch.

Yup right on point with this one. Being an owner of the last 4 Samsung devices the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy S3 and now the Galaxy Note 2. I get direct notifications from SamsungTomorrow and SamsungUsa as well as direct notifications from Sammobile regarding all new products and launches. It’s great to be part of the Samsung mobiler crowd they never hide things from their customers. Personally i will be passing on the Galaxy S4 in April for the Galaxy Note 3 instead. It makes NO SENSE for me to go backwards in screen size i like it BIG. Plus the Galaxy S4 will have only jellybean 4.2 I don’t need another jellybean device i had two in 2012 in the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2. I want android 5.0 Key Lime Pie and the Galaxy Note 3 will have it straight out the box. Matter of fact the Galaxy Note 3 will be the second or third device in 2013 with Key Lime Pie out the box. That Motorola X phone will have Key Lime Pie first with another Evo in June/July then the Galaxy Note 3 followed by the Nexus 5.
