Earlier in the week, the Xperia T Jelly Bean update was certified, a step that it needed to take before it could roll out, and now, just a day later the update’s roll out has begun.

The Sony Xperia T Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update has started to roll out.

According to XperiaBlog, the update is currently limited to Xperia T owners in the Netherlands, though we suspect that those in other regions including the United Kingdom, will see the firmware roll out in the not-so-distant future.

Those looking to install the update appear to be able to do so through the Sony PC Companion application, similar to Samsung Kies, and likely Over-the-Air as well. The update, once installed, will take the Sony Xperia T from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, which unfortunately isn’t the most recent version of the software. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean takes that title.

The software will bring a host of new features to Xperia T owners including Google Now, a faster and smoother user interface, an improved Calendar and Browser, and a whole lot more. Overall, it’s a big step up from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Xperia T owners are going to wait to download it as soon as it becomes available.

The Xperia T’s update is the first of several for Sony in the first quarter of this year. The company also plans to update its Xperia TX and Xperia V models sometime between now and the end of March as well.

Other Sony phones that will be getting the bump to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean include the Xperia S, Xperia acro S, Xperia ion, Xperia P, Xperia go, and Xperia J. Timetables for those updates are currently unknown though it’s possible that Sony will make some more announcements soon.

I would maybe get an android sometime if it wasn’t for their goofy OS names. I mean come on Jelly Bean. How about Black Bean or cotton candy. Maybe banana split.
