iPhone 5S Design with Minimal Changes Rumored
The iPhone 5S, rumored to be the iPhone that replaces the iPhone 5 later this year, has again been rumored to have a similar design to Apple’s current model, something that would be unsurprising given Apple’s past iPhone releases.

The iPhone 5, released in September of last year, has been no stranger to succession rumors. Already, we’ve seen a number of rumors pop up concerning Apple’s next iPhone, rumored to either be called the iPhone 5S or the iPhone 6. iPhone releases of the past would suggest that this model would be called the iPhone 5S. They also suggest that the design might be the same.
When Apple released the iPhone 3GS a year after the iPhone 3G, the device featured upgraded hardware but a similar design. Same goes for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S which both utilized a design comprised of plastic and glass. Last year’s iPhone 5 ushered in a brand new iPhone design, one utilizing a 4-inch display with a taller chassis and elements of glass, metal and aluminum.
Previous rumors have suggested that Apple will stick to its previous releases and today, another analyst has concurred. According to Business Insider, Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty suggests that the iPhone 5S will likely not include substantial hardware changes from its predecessor. Huberty basis her analysis on Apple’s equipment costs which she says are lower than they were a year ago when Apple made investments in new display technology for the iPhone 5.

Analysts are often dead wrong so take Huberty’s claim with a grain of salt. However, given the past, it would be rather surprising to see Apple debut a brand new design for its high-end model just a year after the new design made its debut.
Current rumors suggest that Apple may in fact be launching two 4-inch iPhone models this year with a cheaper iPhone rumored to also include a larger display paired with a plastic design.
As for the iPhone 5S itself, it’s rumored to potentially have a new camera – possibly its biggest selling point, and quite possibly an upgraded processor as well. The device has, several times, been rumored for launch this summer, something that would go against the grain as Apple’s past two iPhone models launched during the fall.
