T-Mobile BlackBerry Z10 Release Could Beat AT&T and Verizon

In January, we learned that the BlackBerry Z10 wouldn’t be released in the United States until March. The carriers that will be supporting it, including AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon are mum about specific release dates though T-Mobile is now claiming that it is hoping to be the first carrier to offer it when it arrives next month.

The BlackBerry Z10 is BlackBerry’s all-touch BlackBerry 10 smartphone and one that it announced last month alongside the BlackBerry Q10, the company’s first BlackBery 10 device with a physical QWERTY keyboard. And while the BlackBerry Q10 release in the U.S. isn’t likely to come for several months, the BlackBerry Z10 is set to hit U.S. soil in March.

T-Mobile could release the BlackBerry Z10 before AT&T and Verizon.

AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless have all confirmed the device for arrival with Sprint being the odd carrier out, at least at the moment. None of those carriers have announced specific release dates though T-Mobile has made it apparent that it’s currently aiming to be the first “out of the gate” of the gate next month.

Those comments, made to Bloomberg, come from Frank Sickinger who is T-Mobile’s head of business sales. According to Sickinger, testing of the BlackBerry Z10 is going well and that could mean a faster launch then was initially anticipated. He says that right now, mid-March is the target for a release but leaves open the possibility of a launch coming sooner than that.

BlackBerry, formally known as RIM, has said that it left the release of these BlackBerry 10 devices up to carriers so we should see several different BlackBerry Z10 release dates emerge and it could be that T-Mobile’s is first.

It also looks like the $199 price point that BlackBerry unveiled last month will fall in line, at least for T-Mobile, as Sickinger says that it’s the price point that T-Mobile is currently considering.

The BlackBerry Z10 figures to be BlackBerry’s biggest launch in a number of years and it’s a device the company is hoping will compete with the likes of the iPhone 5, HTC M7 and the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Unlike past BlackBerry smartphones, the Z10 uses a 4.2-inch display with a 356 ppi pixel density. It also comes equipped with an 8MP camera, dual-core processor, black and white design options, and of course, BlackBerry 10, the company’s brand new operating system.
