Some Walmart stores now carry the LG Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with decent discounts according to a report from TMoNews.
The phones won’t come to every Walmart store, but both the Nexus 4 and Galaxy Note 2 will appear in 1,500 Walmart stores nationwide in the near future. The phones will come with T-Mobile Classic Plans, meaning users will have to sign up for two-year contracts to get the phones. The phones do come with significant discounts, however.
The Nexus 4 is currently available in some stores for just $148 on a two-year contract. That’s $52 less than what T-Mobile regularly charges for the smartphone with a contract. The price is for the 16GB model of the smartphone, the same one that T-Mobile sells in stores and online.
Users who don’t want a two-year contract on the Nexus 4 should avoid Walmart, however. The big box store will sell the Nexus 4 for $550 without a contract, which is $200 more than Google charges for the smartphone in the Google Play Store.
Walmart offers a much better deal for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on T-Mobile. The store offers the white Galaxy Note 2 for $278, which is $91 less than what T-Mobile charges after its mail-in rebate. T-Mobile offers a $50 mail-in rebate on the Galaxy Note 2, so the Walmart price is actually $142 less than what users would have to pay for the phone in a T-Mobile store.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is one of the first phones that will support the carrier’s 4G LTE network when it launches this year. The T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 uses a wireless radio that supports 4G LTE. There’s a chance the phone will support the carrier’s new network when it launches this year.
For T-Mobile users looking t switch to the Nexus 4 or Galaxy Note 2 these Walmart deals are a great option for buying either device, as long as there aren’t any other sales going on that further lower the phones’ prices.
