We’ve already taken a close look at what we think are the most exciting smartphones in 2013 so far, it’s time to dig a little deeper and take a look at what we think are the fifteen most exciting smartphone rumors that have surfaced and could see the light of day at some point this year.

Last year was an extremely big year for the mobile industry. We saw the arrival of the iPhone 5, Apple’s first iPhone with a larger display and 4G LTE data speeds. We saw the Samsung Galaxy S3 arrive and smash sales records, selling over 40 million worldwide putting it on the same pedestal as the iPhone.

We saw the Galaxy Note 2 emerge as a serious smartphone option, we saw wearable accessories like the Nike+ FuelBand emerge as serious companions for smartphones, and of course we saw the arrival of Microsoft’s brand new Windows Phone 8 operating system. 2012 was indeed a big year for mobile but 2013 is looking like it might try and top it.

2013 is only a little over a month old and already, rumors about upcoming smartphones, their software, their accessories and their release dates have started to surface, giving consumers a peek at what they might expect from 2013. From a mysterious smartphone from Google and Motorola to the oft-rumored Samsung Galaxy S4 to Google’s upcoming Android operating system, the smartphone rumor mill has been hard at work.

And while we certainly haven’t seen everything yet, remember it’s only February, the year is shaping up to be another good one for the mobile industry with companies looking to raise the bar even higher.

So what can consumers expect from 2013? Well, as we’ve said, there has been no shortage of 2013 smartphone rumors. Some, like the rumored Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, have been small. Others though, are not only big rumors, but extremely exciting ones as well.

Here, we want to take a look at what we think are the 15 most exciting smartphones rumors that have surfaced so far for products that allegedly could be coming out this year.

Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, rumored to be Google's replacement for Android 4.1 and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, is currently rumored to be arriving at Google I/O in May.

Jelly Bean represented Google's best mobile operating system to date combining a ton of useful features with an extremely fast, fluid user interface.

The company will likely want to build on the successes of Jelly Bean by introducing new features for Android users in the months ahead. And while it may not come at Google I/O, it likely will at some point in 2013 and that prospect should be exciting to Android enthusiasts and average consumers alike.
