Samsung Galaxy S4 May Use Snapdragon 600 Processor

The Samsung Galaxy S4 may use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor instead of Samsung’s own Exynos Octa 5 processor which Samsung has been teasing in social media.

Samsung announced the Exynos Octa 5 processor at CES 2013, and while the company did not confirm plans to use it in their Galaxy S4 smartphone, rumors suggested the company would use the flagship mobile processor in their flagship phone.

The good news for consumers is that no matter which processor Samsung goes with benchmarks suggest the Galaxy S4 will pack plenty of power with better graphics performance and up to 40% better performance than the U.S. Galaxy S3. While Qualcomm doesn’t dive into the details,  the company claims the new processors offer, “great battery life.”

A new report from a Korean publication claims the Samsung Galaxy S4 will use the Snapdragon 600 processor in all versions of the Galaxy S4, as spotted by PhoneArena.

No Exynos Octa 5 in Galaxy S4

Could the Galaxy S4 skip the Exynos Octa 5?

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a Samsung Galaxy S4 with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Last week a benchmark tagged as the Samsung SCH-I545 appeared showing a 1.9Ghz Qualcomm processor. This device uses a similar model to the Samsung Galaxy S3 on Verizon, which may mean this is the Verizon Galaxy S4 model.

Another set of possible Galaxy S4 benchmarks also show the new device running on a Qualcomm processor clocked at 1.9Ghz.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor is already in the LG Optimus G Pro and in the just announced HTC One. Samsung outfitted the Samsung Galaxy S3 with a Qualcomm processor in the U.S. to support 4G LTE.

It’s possible that Samsung will launch the Galaxy S4 with the Snapdragon 600 in the U.S. and other areas while using the Exynos Octa 5 processor in the international version.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 launch will reportedly take place on March 14th in New York City, with a release following in April. Sources point to a U.S. Galaxy S4 release in May or June.

Whether the Galaxy S4 uses an Exynos Octa 5 processor or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, it will likely use a quad-core processor and 2GB of RAM. The phone is expected to arrive with a 13MP camera which will likely be paired with software similar to that found on the Galaxy Note 2. Rumors say the Galaxy S4 will feature Android 4.2.2 with Samsung’s Nature UX overlay and features.

I am really looking forward to how this device will compare to the HTC One the appeared officially yesterday. A lot of people with Verizon are somewhat disappointed with this device not readily being available. HTC could use the income from Big Red’s consumer base looking to upgrade from their devices. I am not really surprised they switched from an 8-core CPU to a Quad core. This phone will do very well I think and capture the market that missed out on the astounding GS3.

I would be really excited for this phone if Samsung would wake up and ditch their dated SAMOLED technology in favour of the spectacular SLCD3s making their way to all high end phones now. Pretty please, dammit!

Also vanilla option? Maybe? please? I don’t get this ‘nature’ thing, and stock android just looks so much cleaner.

Something tells me I’ll be disappointed, sitting here waiting with a wad of cash in hand. There’s always the X-phone though.

Nice article, I am really interested into the whole matter as well. One part of me is wondering which of these would be better, but then another part of me things that it just doesn’t really matter. Both Exynos and Snapdragon will help the S4 be a beast it deserves to be. What I am hopping for, however, is that no matter which of these Samsung chooses, they create a model that will be compatible so that everything works smooth!

And by the way, for more S4 news I do suggest you visit https://samsung-galaxy-s4-news.blogspot.com/ and maybe it will give you an idea for another article?

Now, HTC One can par with the S4 if indeed it will use the Snapdragon S4 600. This time, One might steal the occassion Sammy has been holding for the past two years in the smartphone market share.

Look guys all the reports you have heard about the galaxy s4 benchmarks having a quad core has been US variants such as sprint and Verizon and a Korean version.. so most likely the US versions of the S4 will possibly sport the quad and the international expected to be i9500 may sport the Exynos 5 Octa, and the Korean version according to benchmarks i9505 will sport an upgraded Exynos Quad. Its really important to pay attention to version and model number of this upcoming device. If you run into one rumor that involves one of the models of the supposed galaxy s4’s. That rumored spec could just be for that model not all of the models.
