Just a few weeks ago, the BlackBerry Z10 launched onto shelves in select regions around the globe. Users who have bought the BlackBerry Z10 have been giving feedback about the device and evidently, have been heard loud and clear by the company known as RIM. The company, in a post today, says that it has rolled out the first update for the BlackBerry 10 based on feedback from consumers.

The BlackBerry Z10 received its first software update today.

The update, which brings the device to BlackBerry 10 version 10.0.10.85, brings a number of welcomed bug fixes aboard including one that is said to enhance the battery life of the BlackBerry Z10.

In addition, the software is said to offer fixes for the Gmail calendars in BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry says that it has improved the method by which users import contacts from online sources.

BlackBerry claims that it also has improved the overall performance of third party applications and also says that March should be full of releases including the release of popular messaging service, WhatsApp. Even further, the update evidently brings camera optimization for low-light photos and improvements to how the browser is able to playback video content.

Maybe the biggest fix on board this update though is the improvement to battery life. BlackBerry says that it has included over 60 battery life fixes in this update which hopefully will translate into improved battery life for BlackBerry Z10 owners. Those who use their phone very consistently should also see increased time between having to charge the phone.

Those who own the BlackBerry Z10 without a carrier can find the update in the device’s Settings. Users will want to head into Settings then Software Updates then Check for Updates to look.

Owners of a BlackBerry Z10 on a specific carrier will unfortunately have to wait for this update and BlackBerry says it will roll out the update in the coming weeks.

The device, which is slated to go on sale on big name carriers in the United States next month, is the first of two announced BlackBerry 10 smartphones. The BlackBerry Q10, the company’s QWERTY BlackBerry 10 device, won’t be out until later this year.

Despite launching in a few weeks, American carriers AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon have yet to confirm concrete release dates for the BlackBerry Z10’s arrival.
