Today Google’s Play Store celebrates one year as the hub for all apps and media on Android, and as part of that celebration, Google has a number of sales for apps and movies.

The Play Store celebration will last for one week, so every day Google will have new deals. Every category of the Play Store (except devices) have special deals as part of the celebration, making this week great for users looking for more music, movies, TV shows, books, magazines or apps for their Android devices.

Each category has a large selection of items on sale for different prices. The movies section has a large selection of movies to rent for just $0.99, the music section has full albums on sale for $7.99 or less (with many at $3.99 or $5.99), the book section has a number of books on sale for $5, single magazine issues cost $1 and several TV episodes are available for free.

The apps section has the smaller number of items in the sale, but the items are also more specialized. For the first day of the sale the Play Store offers a number of free items in a collection of 12 games. Those items include a special birthday item in Zenonia 5 that grants gamers double XP, a special birthday mission in Dragon Quest with an exclusive item and a new custom level in The Sandbox.

The Play Store also a number of other deals including a $15 gift card to Fancy, $20 free gift cards from Gyft and 10 percent off when using the Hotels.com app. These deals will likely change throughout the week, so interested users may want to grab them quickly.

Unfortunately, while Google offers discounts on all of the media in the Google Play Store, it’s unlikely that it will offer any deals on the devices it sells. The company already subsidizes the Nexus 4 in some way to sell it for less than T-Mobile does at price, and its hard to imagine that price going any lower.
