AT&T HTC One X Jelly Bean Update Rolling Out Now

Published

on

The long-awaited AT&T HTC One X Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is now rolling out to owners of the device, despite the confusion that AT&T generated earlier in regards to the update.

We have heard from several owners of the HTC One X on AT&T who say that the HTC One X Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update is indeed rolling out today despite AT&T posting and subsequently removing a blog post that detailed the update.

AT&T has confirmed to Gotta Be Mobile that the HTC One X Jelly Bean update is now rolling out to owners and that owners will want to manually check to see if the update is installed.

The AT&T HTC One X is now receiving Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

That post has also now returned and thanks to One X owners, we now know that the update is still rolling out to the AT&T One X in the form of a large 600MB+ update that owners in various parts of the country have been able to pull. Those who have seen the update seem to have all checked manually for the update and once that was done, the update relayed a prompt and the software began to download.

Owners can do this by selecting ‘Applications’, ‘Settings’, ‘About phone’ and ‘Check for Updates’. If the update is available, the software should begin to download and install. Owners should set aside several minutes for the update to complete. Once it does, the HTC One X will be taken from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The update will include a number of new features including:

  • Google Now, which provides you with the latest relevant information you need, when you need it. Whether you’re checking the weather, checking flight information, tracking a package or more, you can get the information that matters most immediately in a single swipe.
  • Changes to the notification display that groups updates from the same application together and allows you to expand or collapse any notification.
  • The ability to view the full text of an SMS message and the full photo of a MMS in the notification window.
  • An event notifications display that offers more of the event description, allowing you to quickly see relevant details without having to open an app.
  • New countdown timer for the front-facing camera.

The AT&T HTC One X is one of the last variants of the One X to get the Jelly Bean update. The international One X has been on Jelly Bean since October while various carriers around the globe treated their customers to Jelly Bean weeks ago.

AT&T’s One X Jelly Bean roll out comes shortly before the carrier releases the One X’s successor, the HTC One, a device that is said to be arriving as soon as March 22nd.

I am in Seattle, had an update on my HTC One X, downloaded it. I am not sure what it was, but it was NOT Jellybean. Still have Ice Cream Sandwich. So lame. My next phone probably wont be an HTC phone and it wont be on AT&T.

Same here, the instructions that AT&T gives on their site does not match my one x or the HTC documentation which calls it “AT&T Software Update” and no dice. Major let down so far.

I hate how every article says that the update software is under “‘Applications’, ‘Settings’, ‘About phone’ and ‘Check for Updates’” when “About Phone” is not an option on the ATAT HOX…It is under Settings>AT&T Software Update>Check for updates…Also, it states that no updates are available(11:34am 3/8/2013) I must be AT&Ting wrong i guess.

Well, this update has been very frustrating. Got the update notification, downloaded the file and started installing it only to get a message stating “The system file update is corrupted”…Downloaded again and got the same result. Tried 2hrs later to only get a message stating “No update available, software is up to date. Check back in 23hrs.” Grrr…sigh.

I chat with ATT. support. they said can push it to you if you request. I am not able to do this because I quit from ATT already. but you can try if you are still ATT customer.
