Droid RAZR & Droid RAZR MAXX Jelly Bean Updates Now Hitting All Users
The Motorola Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX Jelly Bean updates, which began pushing out in phases earlier this month, are now rolling out to all users of Motorola’s devices which means those who didn’t see the OTA or install manually should now be able to snag the update.
The Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX Jelly Bean updates rolled out to owners well ahead of their end of March deadline, surprising owners with an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The updates, which began rolling out earlier this month, have been rolling out slowly to owners due to Verizon’s methodology.
They have also been available for manual install for those that don’t want to wait for the Over-the-Air update to arrive. However, today, it looks like the OTA is arriving for most users.
We’ve heard from several Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX owners who have received their update today, Droid-Life is hearing the same thing, and so it looks like the Jelly Bean update is rolling out to most users of these devices today. Those who have yet to receive the software or install it manually will want to look in the device Settings, in the About section, and try and pull the update.
From the sound of things, most users should be able to pull the software which will initiate prompt to download and install. After the process is over, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will have replaced Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the device’s operating system.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is a huge upgrade from Android 4.0 in that it offers a new smoother user interface, Google Now, improved core software like the keyboard and the Browser, and a whole lot more.
It’s unclear if this will be the end of the road for Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX owners or if Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the current version of Android, is waiting in the wings.
Neither Motorola nor Verizon have confirmed Android 4.2 for these devices so it remains to be seen.
