The Samsung Galaxy S4 which Samsung says will be first released in late April, timing which has been confirmed by retailers and carriers in the United Kingdom, now has new timing rumored for another region as rumors suggest that India will be releasing the Samsung Galaxy S4 sometime in the early part of May.
Last week, Samsung finally announced the Galaxy S4, the long-rumored flagship that is set to replace the Samsung Galaxy S3 on shelves in the weeks ahead. At the event however, Samsung failed to mention any specific release dates, instead opting for a broader announcement saying that the device would start heading to shelves in late April.
Shortly thereafter, retailers and a carrier in the United Kingdom confirmed that timing saying that the device would be landing on April 25th and April 26th in the United Kingdom. However, since then, timing for other regions has been scarce. We have expected other regions to receive the phone later than late April and now, it appears that we may have our first Galaxy S4 release in May.
India-based publication TechOne3 claims that the Samsung Galaxy S4 will hit India in the early part of May, sometime after a Samsung press event to promote the release of the phone. No specific release date is known for operators and retailers in India, but it’s looking like those hoping to buy won’t be able to until May rolls around.
Another report from Android Caotic reveals that Italy should be getting the Galaxy S4 in the early part of May as well. This type of timing isn’t surprising given the vague late April roll out that Samsung placed upon the device. We expected regions to get the device later than its initial April release. It just wasn’t clear which regions might see it during that time frame.
Another potential May release region is the United States which typically sees device launches later than other regions around the world. Current rumors suggest that the Galaxy S4 will hit the U.S. in May or June and given the timing in India, that certainly remains in the realm of possibility.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 is Samsung’s latest flagship and it will be coming with a number of high-end specs including a 5-inch 1080p display, 13MP camera, quad-core processor which will be the Exynos 5 Octa in India, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
It will replace the Galaxy S3 which sold over 40 million units worldwide since launching back in May of last year.
