Wacom Launches New 13-Inch Cintiq HD Drawing Tablet

Wacom had launch its new Cintiq 13 HD tablet for digital artists. Like previous Wacom drawing tablets, the Cintiq 13HD will come with Wacom’s digital pen alongside a 13-inch 1080p full HD display. Unlike consumer tablets and Windows tablets, the Cintiq tablet is not intended as a standalone product and is actually designed as a peripheral to a PC or Mac, similar to how a mouse, trackpad, or input device would work.

Key to the Cintiq 13HD is its compact, slim design and easy setup with both Mac and PC.computers. For complete comfort, whether positioning it on your desk or in your lap, the Cintiq 13HD’s stand is optimized for use in a choice of four settings – flat, 22°, 35° and 50°.

With a 13-inch full HD display, creative professionals can have real-time feedback of what they’re drawing and can point the pen and see directly where they are drawing. This lends to a more natural experience.

According to the company, there are 2,048 levels of pressure sensitivity as well as tilt recognition on the new cordless and battery-free Pro Pen. This offers more sensitivity and options than the Wacom technology employed by Microsoft on the Surface tablet and by Samsung on its Galaxy Note and ATIV Smart PC lineup.

The Cintiq will be priced at just under $1,000 and will arrive in early April, according to Wacom. The tablet will join the Cintiq 22HD, the Cintiq 24HD and Cintiq 24HD touch tablets that are already available on the market.

Most recently, the company had teased a professional grade tablet for a summer launch. It’s unclear if the 13-inch Cintiq 13HD is that product.
