Samsung Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 Lock Screen Fix En Route
A security flaw that allows unwanted users to bypass the lock screens of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was fixed earlier this month though not in an official manner. Fortunately, Samsung has revealed that it is indeed aware of the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 lock screen hack and it’s working on an official fix.

Earlier this month, it became apparent that both the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 both were susceptible to a malicious hack that allows nefarious users full access to the smartphone, despite the presence of a lock screen. The issue was found to be more dangerous than an earlier hack that was discovered on the Galaxy S3.
Samsung is aware of the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 lock screen issues.
The process is a bit tricky and more than timing consuming, as were Apple’s iOS 6.1 lock screen hacks, which makes it a little less than ideal for prying eyes. However, even with the difficult process, the security issue is still a security issue and one that needs to be fixed.
Lookout Mobile, a free security app, patched up the issue earlier this month though the fix wasn’t official by any means and requires a download of the application to work. Those looking for a more official fix from Samsung can rest easy as the company has confirmed to Android Central that it’s aware of the issue, saying that a fix will be coming as soon as possible.
“Samsung considers user privacy and the security of user data its top priority.
We are aware of this issue and will release a fix at the earliest possibility.”
It’s unclear exactly when the software patch might be coming to Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 owners but it should come in the form of an Android update in the future, perhaps Android 4.2 for the Galaxy Note 2 and Android 4.2 for the Galaxy S3 as well.
Those concerned right now should look into downloading Lookout Mobile as it not only will fix the lock screen issue but it allows users to track down a lost or stolen Android device and protects devices from Android malware.
