Nexus 4 Shipping Times Now Best Since Launch

Published

The Nexus 4 has been through some ups and downs since it launched back in November of last year but now, four months after Google released the Nexus 4 to the world, the device is as available as it ever has been with widespread availability and shipping times on the Google Play Store in the U.S. at their best since launch.

Back in November, Google and LG launched the Nexus 4 smartphone to replace the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, a device that launched on both Sprint and Verizon and eventually made it into the Google Play Store in GSM unlocked form. The Nexus 4 on the other hand launched on T-Mobile, without 4G LTE speeds, and on the Google Play Store.

However, unbeknownst to Google it seemed, demand for the Nexus 4 was higher than anticipated and both the 16GB and 8GB Nexus 4 models sold out almost immediately. Then, they returned, with extremely fast shipping times. But after a few days, those shipping times turned to weeks and then later, into months.

At that point, Google pulled the plug, and the device was sold out, where it remained until January when it reemerged with shipping times in the weeks. Since then, the Nexus 4 on the Google Play Store had been fluctuating between one to two weeks and two to three weeks until Google started offering pinpoint shipping dates a few days ago.

The Nexus 4 8GB is now listed as being delivered in 3-5 days.

The Nexus 4 8GB is now listed as being delivered in 3-5 days.

And while the 16GB Nexus 4 is still listed with a ship by date of March 29th, just one week from now, the 8GB Nexus 4 is now listed with a delivery date between three to five days. Not shipping, but delivered in that amount of time. That means that overall, this is the best that we have seen from the Nexus 4 since it launched back in November.

Of course, we could see it fluctuate some more, but it all but appears that Google has the supply issues under control and those looking to buy the Nexus 4 can now safely do so without an extended wait.
