Motorola X Phone Rumors Swirl

Besides the HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 5, one of the other highly anticipated smartphones of the year is the Motorola X Phone, a device that is said to be many things. Today, rumors have swirled again with rumors suggesting that it will come packed with a strong, sub-5-inch display and a massive stock battery.

While Sony, HTC and Samsung, fierce Android competitors, have shown their 2013 smartphone cards, Motorola still hasn’t shown its flagship device for 2013. Of course, that doesn’t mean that we haven’t heard rumors of what to expect. So far, we’ve heard all about a rumored X Phone, a device that one day sounds extremely realistic, the next, like a myth.

The Motorola X Phone may be coming to replace the Droid RAZR HD.

The most recent rumors suggest that the Motorola X Phone could be a brand name for Motorola’s new line of smartphone, similar to HTC’s One series and Samsung’s Galaxy. Rumors have suggested that it could be announced at Google I/O and may come with customizable hardware, something that was fueled further by Google evangelist, Guy Kawasaki.

It’s also been rumored to be heavily subsidized, have a June release date, and include a 5-inch or 4.7-inch 1080p display, a 10MP camera in the rear and possibly a 5MP camera in the front, and a dual-core processor from Qualcomm. Those rumors pointed to a more realistic smartphone but one that could certainly compete against opponents like the Galaxy S4 and HTC One.

Today, rumors are again swirling about the Motorola X Phone with separate reports from GSMArena and PhoneArena suggesting the device could feature some incredible specifications.

Both reports, which seem to be based on similar information, suggest the phone will have a 4,000 mAh battery. The device is also said to have either a 4.7 or 4.8-inch display with the 4.8-inch version sporting sapphire glass, much harder to break than Gorilla Glass, and the 4.7-inch version using Gorilla Glass 3.

They also suggest that the device will feature the Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, which has yet to appear in any smartphones. It’s also said to be water resistant with a release planned for November, despite the rumors about a launch at Google I/O.

This is more than likely not the Motorola X Phone.

GSMArena also provides what it claims could be a render of the Motorola X Phone. However, under close examination, the times on the device don’t add up and there doesn’t seem to be an ear piece. Motorola did incorporate an edge-to-edge display with the Droid RAZR M, so that’s not surprising, but this image doesn’t seem to add up.

What this means is that while rumors about the Motorola X Phone are swirling, we likely still don’t have a direct bead on what Motorola might have up its sleeve.

This may have S800 chip which is going to rock above all 2013 phones. The picture is highly unlikely to be true btw.

If battery rumor is true, finally an android that’s portable (don’t need to carry charging cable too)!
