At CES 2013, Samsung showed off Samsung Youm, flexible OLED technology that will almost certainly be implemented into some of Samsung’s future smartphones. However, as we now know, the Samsung Galaxy S4 does not feature this type of display, instead, featuring a Super AMOLED HD display measuring in at 5-inches in size.

There have been rumors that this type of technology, not just Samsung’s could appear at some point this year and a new report suggests that Samsung may be including it with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, its rumored phablet.

A new report from Korean publication Asiae suggests that Samsung could be bringing its unbreakable flexible display to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 when it launches later this year. The report suggests that the company will indeed be launching the device in September, the same month as IFA 2013, the event where Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Note for the past two years. More than likely, the event will be a Samsung Unpacked event, separate form the show floor itself, but Samsung will likely have the Galaxy Note 3 on hand at IFA.

As for the display, it’s said to be 5.9-inches in size and sport 1080p resolution, the latter feature being apart of the Galaxy S4 display. However, the Galaxy Note 3 display also is said to be unbreakable, something that could wind up being its most important feature and biggest selling point.

Keep in mind, this is not the first time that we’ve heard that the Galaxy Note would come with a flexible, unbreakable display. The Galaxy Note 2, prior to its launch, was rumored to have one on board. However, given that Samsung debuted the flexible display on stage alongside the Exynos 5 Octa processor, an octo-core processor it will be putting inside the Galaxy S4, it could be that we see the technology arrive this year.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is also said to feature a quad-core processor, the Exynos 5 Octa in fact. Samsung has reportedly started shopping the phone to carriers, starting with AT&T though the prototype is not said to feature any of the device’s high-end technology. Other specifications of the device remain scarce.
