According to recent reports, the “Catwalk” could be the first in Nokia’s Windows Phone line up to feature aluminum construction.

Known reliable source, Flavio took to Twitter with information he obtained from reliable sources who pegs the Nokia Catwalk’s specifications sheet as listing a SnapDragon S4 dual-core 1.5Ghz processor, 1GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, 8.7 MP rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization, and a 4.5 octaOLED display with a 1280 x 768 resolution.

According to these sources, the Nokia Catwalk would be announced on May 15 and launch in June.

This device would have a non-removable battery sealed in its 129mm x 71mm x 8.4mm aluminum frame and would weigh in at 132 grams. Each member of Nokia’s Lumia line has been wrapped in a dyed polycarbonate so far. Typically this polycarbonate shell has resulted in devices that are heavier and bulkier than some users would like.

The Nokia Lumia 920, Nokia’s latest flagship to feature a complete polycarbonate body, weighs in at 185 grams and is 130.3mm x 70.8mm x 10.7 mm making the Nokia Catwalk slightly thinner and lighter.

According to Microsoft, Windows Phone is designed to take advantage of less powerful chipsets, no Windows Phone has ever been powered by more than a dual-core processor. That the Nokia Catwalk is powered by a dual-core SnapDragon S4 instead of the quard-core processors that Android flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S4 are shipping with isn’t unprecedented. The Nokia Lumia 920, uses this same system on chip and 1GB of RAM.

The specifications given for the Nokia Catwalk’s rear-facing camera are also identical to the Nokia Lumia 920, which features optical image stabilization, and an 8.7 megapixel sensor. In our review we found that the Nokia Lumia 920’s PureView technology resulted in better photos taken in low-light situations.

Lastly, the Nokia Catwalk’s 4.5” OctaOLED display could mark a change Nokia’s offerings, however these specifications indicate a 1280 x 768 resolution. Without knowing more about the underlying screen technology it’s hard to determine how different this screen would be from the Nokia Lumia 920’s 4.5” AMOLED display.

One thing these reports don’t nail down is carrier availability. Currently Nokia only offers its flagship on AT&T wireless network in the United States even though it doesn’t rely on carrier exclusivity in other countries. An alleged photo of a Verizon branded Lumia 928 leaked this weekend.
