Galaxy Note 3 Concept Shows Thinner, Galaxy S4 Influenced Design

Today a new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 concept offers us a look at how the Samsung Galaxy S4 might influence the Galaxy Note 3’s design and looks.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is a Galaxy Note 2 successor which may include a larger HD screen and flexible display technology to deliver an unbreakable display.

It’s very likely that the Samsung Galaxy S4 hints at what the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will look like, as the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 shared design traits.

With that in mind a new Galaxy Note 3 concept arrives showing off the design of the Galaxy S4, but with all the features we would expect on a Galaxy Note device.

The image above comes from uva7 dance, who shared the Galaxy Note 3 concept with concept-phones. The Note 3 concept looks like a Samsung Galaxy S4 from the front, with similar curves and the physical home button.

This Galaxy Note 3 concept features a 5.9-inch 1080P HD display with super-thin bezels to keep the overall size of the device closer to the Galaxy S4, or at least similar in size to the Note 2.

We also see openings for several sensors on the front of the device, which would line up with expectations that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will use at least the same nine sensors as the Galaxy S4 to deliver features like Smart scroll and motion control. The video shows how this feature works on the Galaxy S4 and how it could work on the Galaxy Note 3.

On the back of this Galaxy Note 3 concept is a slot for the trademark stylus. While the Galaxy S4 supports features like AirView without the stylus, Note users will no doubt appreciate the inclusion of the S Pen. With the flat back and sides of this concept, the S Pen may be a little flatter, but there is no exterior shot.

On thing we can’t see in this concept is a removable back, though there is talk of a Micro SD card slot.. Samsung is committed to plastic smartphone designs, and the Galaxy S4 offers a removable back that adds a lot of flexibility. On top of offering access to a Micro SD card and a replaceable battery, a removable back on the Galaxy Note 3 would let users use a wireless charging kit and to snap on an official Samsung Galaxy Note 3 flip cover.

Along the sides of the device we see the same silver trim as on the Galaxy S4, and several buttons, one of which appears to be a camera shutter button. We haven’t seen one of these on a Galaxy S device in recent memory. The Galaxy Note 3 concept is reportedly 7.99mm thick, or about as thick as the Galaxy S4. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is 9.6mm thick.

The designer also shares his take on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 specs. Some of these specs are a reach based on current devices, but perhaps a slightly scaled back version could appear.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 lacks an Exynos processor in most models, but Samsung’s recent comments suggest it supports the LTE bands needed to make it the default processor in the Galaxy Note 3. In addition to offering more processing power, the Exynos Octa 5 is reportedly much more battery efficient.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 announcement is rumored for IFA 2013 in September 2013. This could point to a Galaxy Note 3 release date in early fall, similar to the Galaxy Note 2 timing.
