Earlier this month, Sprint started to take Samsung Galaxy S4 pre-orders ahead of its arrival on April 27th. Sprint, unlike AT&T and U.S. Cellular, gave the device a specific release date for pre-orderers to look forward to. However, it appears that the carrier was met with quite a bit of demand as Sprint has closed down pre-orders for the anticipated smartphone.

As late as Friday, the carrier was still taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S4, however, the site now lists the pre-order as closed and tells consumers that the phone will be available to buy in just a few days. Sprint still lists the $100 discount that it’s offering to new customers bringing over their number but it’s unclear if that detail will extend beyond the Galaxy S4 release date.

Sprint was not the only carrier taking Galaxy S4 pre-orders though it is the first one to sell out of them. Both AT&T and U.S. Cellular still have the Galaxy S4 up for sale for $199.99 on-contract. However, like Sprint, both only have the 16GB Galaxy S4 for sale. The 32GB Galaxy S4 is still a bit of a mystery in the United States though we expect AT&T, at least, to sell it after the device goes on sale.

Sprint will be selling the device for $250 on-contract, much more expensive than its rivals, though that price again will be discounted for those bringing in new lines.

The carrier is also going to be the only carrier offering the device with pure, unlimited data. Other carriers don’t offer that to new customers and if it’s advertised that way, speeds are throttled after a certain threshold is met.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 will replace the Galaxy S3 as Sprint’s premier Galaxy S smartphone and it will be doing so with a 5-inch display, quad-core processor, 4G LTE speeds, 13MP camera, Android 4.2 and more.
