Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Update To Bring New Multi-View Apps

By  |  2 Comments

The Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will soon receive an update that expands the Multi-View capabilities, letting owners use more apps in the side-by-side multitasking feature.

Verizon won’t confirm which apps will make it into Multi-View in the Galaxy Note 2 update,  only that a Galaxy Note update is “coming soon” to Verizon users.

When we reviewed the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 we lamented the lack of the Gmail app and Google Play movies, and users are also looking for Chrome and YouTube support.

Verizon would not comment on the exact timing of the update or if it is the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.1.2 update, but Laura Merritt, Verizon Wireless Public Relations Manager for Ohio, provides the following information to Gotta Be Mobile.

For the Galaxy Note II – there is a software update coming soon that will include additional apps that can use the multi view feature.

This Galaxy Note 2 update is good news for users, even without concrete details. Other Samsung Galaxy Note 2 devices offer a wider range of Multi-View apps including Chrome, YouTube and more.

A Verizon Galaxy Note 2 update, possibly Android 4.1.2, will soon bring more Multi-View apps.

A Verizon Galaxy Note 2 update, possibly Android 4.1.2, will soon bring more Multi-View apps.

We’ve heard rumors of the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.1.2 update as early as December of last year, and other Galaxy Note 2 devices are already running 4.1.2, so it is likely that this is the update Verizon is talking about.

The Galaxy Note 2 Multi-View demo below shows many apps that may be in this update, including Facebook, YouTube, Chrome and more.

The news is also good for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 users. Verizon would not comment on the Multi-View features, other than to confirm the Verizon Galaxy S4 will feature Multi-View, but if Note 2 users are getting more apps it stands to reason that the Galaxy S4 could arrive unfettered. When asked about the Multi-View feature on the Verizon Galaxy S3, Merritt responded,

We haven’t announced the details for the S4 yet. We can confirm that it will have the Multi-View feature.

We’re on the lookout for details about the possible Verizon Galaxy Note 2 4.1.2 update, and will share those when we receive them. The Verizon Galaxy S4 is due for a May release, and we expect to know more about the specific features as that date approaches.

That’s the amazing thing about custom Roms. Notetarius prime, Jedix, Clean Rom, and Novella all have it so all apps can be added to muti view. I have used all four, but so far Clean Rom 4.8.0 is my favorite, but there all good. Find your favorite rom. Then find what kernel goes best with that rom and you will have all the features of stock plus more. With better battery life and a faster cpu.
