Published

on

It appears that U.S. Cellular will follow AT&T and T-Mobile and push out an update to its recently released Samsung Galaxy S4 in an effort to tackle some of the bugs that have cropped up since it hit shelves just a few short days ago.

Earlier this week, both AT&T and T-Mobile rolled out updates to their newly released Samsung Galaxy S4 models. AT&T’s update remains a bit mysterious though it appears that it may have been aimed at tackling some of the lag issues that were plaguing owners. T-Mobile’s update brought visual voicemail updates to owners.

It now appears as though they won’t be the only ones who swiftly roll out an update to their Galaxy S4 as U.S. Cellular is now believed to be prepping an update to the Galaxy S4 that could roll out as soon as May 10th.

Droid-Life unearthed a document today that appears to be straight from U.S. Cellular and which details an upcoming update to the U.S. Cellular Galaxy S4. The update explicitly states that the software will be coming in May and it lists a number of the software’s fixes that will be coming to shore up the experience on the new smartphone.

The U.S. Cellular Galaxy S4 should get a bug fix update soon.

Chief among them are the Multi-Window View feature being set to off by default, improved audio quality of camcorder and voice recording, improved touch response, and a small fix for the Camera wherein the home key will now make a sound when its pressed within Sound & Shoot. It’s not an overly big update bit it’s one that owners should be welcome to.

The document does say Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean but that appears to be a typo. The Galaxy S4 runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, not Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, a previous version of the software.

U.S. Cellular has not confirmed this update for arrival but it looks pretty set to debut sometime this month. When it does, owners should be able to get it Over-the-Air instead of through Samsung Kies, Samsung’s software update application.
