HTC One X Sense 5 Update Said to Bring Zoe, BlinkFeed

Published

on

The HTC One X Android 4.2 and Sense 5 update, which is rumored to be rolling out sometime later this year, could come with Sense 5’s two biggest features, HTC BlinkFeed and HTC Zoe on board when it arrives, something that may come as a bit of a surprise to owners who have been privy to information about the rumored software.

Around the time that HTC announced the HTC One, it also confirmed that the new Sense 5, which debuted on the HTC One, would be coming to older HTC devices. Specifically, HTC mentioned the HTC One X+, the HTC Butterfly, the HTC One S and the HTC One X. HTC was quick to note that not some of these devices may not get all of the features of Sense 5 when the update arrives.

Thus far, the company still has not elaborated but there have been clues. A recent Android 4.2 and HTC Sense 5 leak for the HTC Butterfly did not have the heralded HTC Zoe feature on board, a feature that brings some powerful photography features to HTC’s One. This absence seemed to go along with a notorious HTC’s leaksters stance that some older devices may not get Zoe.

One of the main reasons HTC selected a 4MP Ultrapixel sensor for the HTC One was so that it could keep the file sizes down. One of the benefits of that, according to HTC, is that the Ultrapixel camera can use HTC Zoe, which shoots videos and photos at the same time, without clogging up storage with large file sizes.

With all signs pointing to an absence of HTC Zoe in Sense 5 for older devices, things have taken a new twist as notorious HTC leakster @LlabTooFeR suggests that Zoe and BlinkFeed will both be coming to the HTC One X down the road in Sense 5.

Keep in mind, he originally said that he wasn’t sure if Zoe would be coming for older devices, meaning, he didn’t rule it out completely. This doesn’t necessarily mean it will be coming to the HTC One X but considering the source, it makes it a distinct possibility. HTC for its part hasn’t said either way so HTC One X owners should get too excited about the prospects.

One way that we envision HTC adding this feature on is by decreasing the amount of photos and video that Zoe takes to something lower than the current 20 photos and three second video in one push. That could help to keep file sizes down on a device where storage is extremely precious thanks to a lack of a microSD card slot.

Rumors have suggested that the update will be out sometime this summer, no specific date given, and one that likely is for the international HTC One X, not the one in the United States.

It is said that Android 5.0 is a version that can be installed at even older phones, it may even run on a low version of android like 2.2. So it is likely that HOX will get at one point 5.0
