Motorola X Phone Rumors Gain Focus

Published

on

The Motorola X Phone, which has seen a hefty amount of rumors emerge over the past few weeks, has started to come more into focus ahead of its upcoming arrival in the weeks ahead.

Over the past few months, the Motorola X Phone rumor mill has been churning, getting ever so closer to the actual features of Motorola’s first big smartphone of the year. In the beginning, rumors suggested a giant of a phone and one that could compete with the big names on the market. However, more recently, the rumors have been toned down and the X Phone is beginning to look more like something that may not be on par with the big names hardware wise, but certainly could compete in other areas.

Recently, we’ve heard that the X Phone may be 4.7-inch display with 720p resolution, Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 32GB of storage space, no MicroSD card slot, 2GB of RAM, an arrival on all four of the largest providers in the United States including AT&T and Verizon and a wealth of customization for interested parties including choice of color and casing. There are said to be more than 20 colors and several different casing variations leaving consumers with a ton of possibilities.

Even more recently, the X Phone has seen some potential benchmarks leak. The benchmarks, first noticed by TechTastic, are for a device called the Motorola XT1058 XFON, a device though to be the X Phone. The X Phone is also thought to be codenamed, Ghost.

These benchmarks show a Qualcomm chip that can reach 1.7 GHz, a display that has 720p resolution, and a device running Android 4.2.2. The latter is a bit odd given that we expect Android 4.3 Jelly Bean at Google I/O but it could be that Google doesn’t release a new version of Android or Motorola simply is going to release this device with Android 4.2 on board.

So while this doesn’t put anything into stone, it does point to the X Phone as being a device that could compete with the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4, but possibly from a price and customization standpoint and not a hardware one.

Rumors in the past suggested that this device would debut at Google I/O though that remains unclear. What is clear is that something from Motorola is on the way and it’s looking more and more like it’s going to be a highly customizable and cheap X Phone.
