Verizon Galaxy S4 Release Date Moved to May 23rd

For whatever reason, Verizon has rather quietly shifted its Samsung Galaxy S4 release date from May 30th to April 23rd, a different of about a week and a difference that should delight those that have placed a pre-order through the carrier.

While Verizon’s website is still listing the device as shipping by May 30th, a Verizon employee has divulged some details in regards to the Verizon Galaxy S4 release date. According to Ken Muche, a Verizon representative in Southern California, Verizon has moved the Samsung Galaxy S4 release date from May 30th, a date which it announced a few weeks ago, to May 23rd.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 can act as a personal hotspot to connect up to 10 devices.

The Verizon Galaxy S4 release date has been moved.

This date is now expected to be the device’s in-store launch date and it should mean that those who pre-ordered the device will get their device a little earlier than initially expected. Just how much sooner is unknown but we did see AT&T ship out its Galaxy S4 to pre-ordering customers earlier than its in-store and online release date.

It’s unclear if this date will be the date that Verizon puts the phone up for sale online. It’s also unclear how this will affect retailers that initially announced that they would carry the device on shelves on May 30th. It could be that they keep those dates and Verizon just launches the phone a bit earlier than was anticipated.

Also unclear is whether or not Verizon will cave to the pressure from consumers and offer a 32GB model. The Galaxy S4 only comes with about half of its internal storage space available, almost forcing consumers to buy a microSD card for expanded storage. The carrier told us that it would never offer anything than the 16GB model that is up for pre-order but it could potentially cave to the pressure down the road.

For now, Verizon only has the 16GB model up for sale for $250 with a $50 mail-in rebate attached. Should a 32GB model come along down the road, it would likely cost either $250 or $300 with a $50 mail-in rebate.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is Verizon’s latest and greatest Android smartphone and it will compete with the HTC One for attention from consumers. Boasting a 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core processor, Android 4.2 operating system and 13MP camera, this is certainly a phone worth looking at.

Verizon doesn’t carry the HTC One. Right now, AT&T has an exclusive on the 32 GB model.

Verizon loves to mis-informe their loyal customers, first by getting them the new phones last and by giving them wrong release dates and higher prices than other carriers.
Lots of people think that Apple asked Verizon to delay the release of the S4 to sell more iphone 5.
That’s a really bad sales technique and unfair for their customers, what a shame!
And also looks like they won’t even sell the 32 GB S4 to push people into buying the iphone instead.
I think they are doing the same with the HTC One?

Just spoke to Verizon. Existing preorders with reported ship dates of 5/30 will not move up to the new release date. Bologna
