Sony Xperia S Jelly Bean Update Makes Odd Appearance

Published

on

The Sony Xperia S Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update, which is still expected to arrive in May despite encountering a little turbulence, has made an odd appearance on Sony’s support page for the device today, ahead of its eventual roll out to owners of the aging smartphone.

In April, Sony announced that it would be rolling out the long-awaited Xperia S Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update by the end of May. Early signs pointed to that being the case with the software seemingly getting certified on its way to a roll out. More recently though, we heard that it may have hit a bit of a snag, with the software pegged as potentially rolling out in June.

Despite the grim news, there are still no concrete signs pointing to a delay, and thus, owners should still be expecting the software to roll out sometime during this month.

Backing that up is the fact that the Xperia S Jelly Bean update has seemingly made an appearance, albeit an odd one, on the company’s support page for the Android smartphone. The listing, noticed by XperiaBlog, shows off the latest available firmware as 6.2.A.0.200. The 6.2 moniker is thought to be reference to the Xperia S’ Jelly Bean update.

Recently, we saw a 6.2.X.X.XXX Jelly Bean update leak out and we also saw a 6.2.X.X.XXX get certified for arrival. Strangely, the software listed here is not the software that was certified. Instead, it’s an older version. Also strange is that the release date is listed as April 24th which of course already took place.

Jelly Bean has appeared on the Sony Xperia S website.

Jelly Bean has appeared on the Sony Xperia S website.

A quick look at the website’s cache reveals that this information is relatively new, including that date, so perhaps the date is a mistake and the company actually meant May 24th. It’s not clear and the company isn’t saying.

This appearance though is a good sign for Sony Xperia S owners as it likely points to something happening in the near future. Maybe not May 24th, but soon. Remember, Sony has made a promise and hopefully, it sticks to that promise.

They will NEVER release because THIS IS THEIR REPUTATION.
Switch to another brand for the company which does not care for customers.

I hate Sony for making their customers feel abandoned. After many weeks of waiting, still, no updates on the horizon. I really do hope they’ll get something bad after making us suffer for this long. If this is their last update for the Xperia S, then, they deserve even more negativity. The phone’s expensive, they need to supply us with better service when it comes to updates.
