HTC One X Sense 5 Update Said to Be Coming to All

Published

on

The HTC One X Sense 5 update, which is thought to have Android 4.2 Jelly Bean along with it, is apparently going to be rolling out to all variants of the device and not just the global variant.

Earlier this year, HTC confirmed that it would be rolling out a Sense 5 update to the HTC One X. At the time, the company only said that it would be releasing Sense 5 to global variants of the device, leaving consumers wondering if that simply meant the unbranded, global versions of the device or if it meant that it would be coming to all regions of the world.

According to HTC insider @LLabTooFeR, the HTC One X Sense 5 update will be coming to all regions of the world. His remarks came in response to a question about whether or not it would be coming for global variants of the HTC One X or if it would reach the U.S. as well. This of course isn’t confirmation, that will need to come straight from HTC, but this is a sign that those who own the HTC One X on AT&T, and other carriers, will be getting an upgrade to Sense 5 at some point in the future.

There is still no sign of a release date though summer has been thrown around as a possibility. If that’s true, it likely means that a roll out for the AT&T HTC One won’t occur until the fall or winter. The update is said to be bringing both HTC BlinkFeed and HTC Zoe, though other features remain unclear.

The first Sense 5 upgrade is thought to be coming in the near future to the HTC Butterfly. The software has leaked out and HTC itself said that it expected to roll the software out before the end of the month. Thus far, owners of the HTC Butterfly have yet to see Android 4.2 or Sense 5.

It’s possible that HTC could wait to roll out the update as the HTC One, its flagship, currently is running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with an upgrade to Android 4.2 rumored to be imminent.
