Android 4.3 Update Appears on Nexus Partner Website

Published

on

The Android 4.3 update, which is heavily rumored, but remains unconfirmed, has made another strange, possible appearance today, this time on Google Nexus partner LG’s official splash page for the LG Optimus L7 II.

Google failed to announce a new Android update at Google I/O 2013 but that hasn’t stopped rumors of a new Android update from surfacing over the past few weeks. First, information surfaced suggesting that Google was planning to roll out Android 4.3 on June 10th. While that remains unknown, there are still two days left before June 10th arrives, making it as good of a date as any for a roll out.

The odd thing about that rumor was that it was thought that the Android 4.3 update was attached to the release of the white Nexus 4, a device that has already made it onto shelves.

Shortly after that, watchful eyes noticed a possible reference to Android 4.3 in a video showing off the new Gmail Inbox. In the past, times shown on devices have corresponded to Android updates and in the case of the device shown in the video, the time was 4:30, or, Android 4.3. Rumors have also suggested a possible release in July, shortly after the arrival of the HTC One Nexus on June 26th and it has seemingly shown up on video as well.

Google remains silent on the matter, the software has seemingly shown up again, this time on LG’s website.

First noticed by TechTastic, a listing for the LG Optimus L7 II showcases its software as Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, a piece of software that hasn’t been announced or released. While this may be a typo, the reference shows up not once, but twice. This obviously doesn’t confirm anything but given how close we are thought to be to an Android 4.3 arrival, this could be more than just a coincidence.

Android 4.3 is thought to be a version of Jelly Bean that is a small, incremental update from Android 4.2. The big feature is thought to be better Bluetooth support though it’s possible that Google will tack on some surprises for Android owners, to hold them over until Key Lime Pie touches down.

LG is the manufacturer of the Nexus 4, Google’s current Nexus device, and while it may or may not have inside information thanks to it being the current Nexus partner, there is a strong chance that the company has access to Android 4.3 ahead of time, just like companies like HTC and Samsung
