Galaxy Note 2 & Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 Updates Face Setbacks

It appears that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 updates may still be a little ways off as the highly anticipated software updates have reportedly been delayed to an unknown date due to TouchWiz.

While the Samsung Galaxy S4 arrived with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean on board, Samsung has yet to update any of its older devices with the latest version of Android. Included on that list are the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung’s two devices that arrived in 2012. The Galaxy S3 was outfitted with Android 4.1 in the fall while the Galaxy Note 2 arrived with Android 4.1 stock.

Thus far, Samsung has yet to confirm any kind of timing for the software updates though rumors suggested that Samsung had them planned for May or June. Unfortunately, the June timing is now in question as a tweet from the reliable SamMobile has suggested that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 updates have been delayed by Samsung thanks to TouchWiz.

It appears that the reason for the setbacks are thanks to the new TouchWiz which arrived with the Samsung Galaxy S4. The new software features several new features and it looks like Samsung may have needed more time to test the software before rolling it out to its older devices.

Keep in mind, Samsung never announced any kind of specific timing for these updates so they aren’t “delayed.” Instead, it looks like Samsung just needs to work some hoops before it can release the updates to its two big name smartphones.

Fortunately, when the updates do arrive, they will likely do so with at least some of the new software that the Galaxy S4 has on board. Several of the new smart features are thought to be coming to the Galaxy S3 while the new camera application is likely for both of these devices.

The Android 4.3 update is rumored to be out in July though at this point, it’s looking like Samsung is going to be updating these devices first to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.

This is bull. Once Google releases android it then gets sent to phone manufactures and once they green light the update wireless providers that will remain unnamed, Umm hmm Verizon, they have to dip their hands in the cookie jar as well. You mean to tell me that an obese 15-year-old playing on his mother’s Mac book can compile custom roms that work almost just as well long before 2 of the wireless communities super powers can. At this rate by the time key lime pie hits the the s3 will have hardware that’s comparable to that of a stapler, dwarfed by phones to come….

All in all this could be a lot worse. I used to have the HTC Thunderbolt and waited months upon months just to get ICS. HTC “promised” the update would roll out by the end of the August 2012.. that didnt happen. It wasnt until several months it finally came out for it. At that point, it was only the icing on the cake for HTC. Many people left them for Apple and Samsung. Samsung has a better reputation in updating than HTC. It will be here soon! You can always root your phone :)
