Verizon Galaxy S3 Bug Fix Update Rolling Out Now

Published

on

A Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 bug fix update is rolling out to owners as the carrier attempts to fix the issues that arose after owners of the aging flagship installed a previous piece of firmware.

Earlier this month, Verizon pulled an update for the Samsung Galaxy S3, specifically the VRBMD3 update that rolled out several weeks ago. The update proclaimed itself to be a huge update in that it brought Multi-Window View amongst other big name features.

However, soon after the update arrived, Galaxy S3 owners began complaining about a myriad of issues including problems obtaining a signal and issues with battery life.

This Verizon Galaxy S3 bug fix update should tackle connectivity and battery issues.

Verizon confirmed the issues and said that it would be rolling out a bug fix update to tackle the issues that Galaxy S3 owners were experiencing with the update and it appears that the carrier has kept its promise as a Galaxy S3 bug fix update has rolled out to owners of the Verizon Galaxy S3 in an attempt to patch up the issues.

The update is VRBMF1 and Verizon says it contains improvements and enhancements for the former flagship. We aren’t entirely sure what those are, as Verizon has yet to post details to the Galaxy S3’s support website, but it’s an update that is likely aimed at the battery life and connectivity issues that have been plaguing owners for weeks now.

The update likely also is preparation for another big update in the form of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean which is thought to be heading out sometime in the third quarter of this year.

Samsung has yet to confirm Android 4.2 for the Galaxy S3 though it has confirmed Galaxy S4 TouchWiz Nature UX 2.0 features for the device sometime later on this year. Those features are likely going to be coming along with Android 4.2.

In the meantime, users will have to contend with this latest update and hope that it indeed improves upon the experience that was brought with the last update.

I got my update for the multi window the other day. I rebooted my GS3 and then it was gone. Has anyone else had this issue?

Well, it’s August 21, and I’m still feeling the effects from this. In fact, a few weeks ago I went to a Verizon store for some help. The guy gave me a new battery, but admitted that it looked like a software/firmware issue to him–though he had no official word from Verizon. Nevertheless, battery life was one of the primary reasons I was drawn to the S3, and until late-May I’d get a day and a half out of it. Now I’m lucky to make it until 2 p.m without needing to plug it into a charger. It really renders the phone rather useless in certain clinch situations. And that is quite frustrating. It’s on par with my old HTC Incredible, which sucked.
