Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Display Rumors Take a Twist

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 display, which has been rumored numerous times to be either 5.9-inches or 6-inches in size, may actually be smaller than expected with a credible source claiming that the Galaxy Note 3 display will be a little bit smaller and sit at 5.7-inches or .7-inches larger than the Galaxy S4 display.

All along, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumors have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 display will be much larger than the 5.5-inch display on the Galaxy Note 2. Rumors have suggested that the device will employ a 5.9-inch to 6-inch display which would make it a full inch larger than the Galaxy S4 display and about half an inch larger than the Galaxy Note 2 display.

It appears, however, that the Galaxy Note 3 display rumors have taken a twist with the well-sourced @evleaks claiming that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will come with a 5.7-inch display and not a 6-inch or 5.9-inch display as has been rumored for months. This is clearly not official or confirmed, but it does throw a twist into the Galaxy Note 3 rumors that seemed to be taking shape well ahead of the Galaxy Note 3’s highly anticipated launch.

Should the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 arrive with a 5.7-inch display, it will be the same type of increase that the Galaxy S4 saw from the Galaxy S3. The Galaxy S3 possessed a 4.8-inch display while the Galaxy S4 checked in with a larger display, sitting at 5-inches in total. Samsung may be trying to avoid conflicting with the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, a 6.3-inch device, which is likely coming to the United States soon.

It’s also possible that it decided that a .5-inch increase was too much. It’s also entirely possible that one, or both of these rumors are wrong. However, given the track record from @evleaks, it’s hard to dismiss the 5.7-inch rumor, despite the weight of the 5.9-inch and 6-inch rumors.

Galaxy Note 3 display rumors should start to harden up in the weeks ahead as Samsung starts prepping for a Galaxy Note 3 launch. The device is said to be coming sometime in September, likely at IFA 2013, with production starting sometime in August.

Well… That could be disappointed. Nevertheless, I hope Google is developing a Nexus phablet soon, 5.5″ or larger with a quad core or better.

I really hope this will not become reality. I currently own the S4 and have been counting the days to the release of the note 3. I really hope it will launch with the 6 inch screen! Or even a tiny bit larger than that would be great!

It’s very possible that if it doesn’t come with a 5.9 display, they will probably be losing a sale to HTC!

Maybe it’s an alternative. Like note 3 mini or something

I’m sure Samsung has a strong marketing team that has collected the stats on their target consumer to come up with the 5.7″ size. It’s too bad for those of us – like the others commenting above and myself – who really want a TRUE phablet and not some ‘compromise’ phone. If the plan is actually a 5.7″ display, I confess that I’m surprised that the Samsung gang’s research shows that going with a minimal size increase is the most profitable avenue to take. I peruse sites like this several times a day and more often than not the commentary seems to indicate that bigger IS better, size matters and consumers are ready for a full-on phablet. As Charles mentioned above, Samsung could be losing out by failing to recognize what many tech-toyers really want. But I assume Samsung knows what it’s doing…?

I’m sort of hoping it will be 5.99″ myself yet I can see Samsung’s logic. The original Note was 5.3 and the Note 2 is 5.5″ so it stands to reason that the Note 3 would be 5.7″. Hopefully I’m wrong and those of us that want the true phablet size, will see it at 5.99″

Large screen around 6.5 inch is a big market for people have used tablet and smartphone both, one you can not carry all time and other you can not enjoy bcaz of small screen. You need something like 6.5 screen which can be hostled in belt and remains with you all the time, offcourse can be used like phone too. SONY Xperia Z Ultra looks much ahead, people tired of these plasticy drsign and big round corners. There is a specific big market of people wanting to write or sketch on screen, Z ultra anything is stylus is phenominal and a galaxy note killer feature. CARELESS use by providing dust and water proof design is other killing feature.

As an owner of the note 1, note 2, and mega 6.3 I will be super disappointed if the screen is only 5..7 vs 5.99 given the mega 6.3 is amazing for texting videos and reading, throw in the specs and s pen of the note series and 5.99 or even 6.3 would be the ultimate. Otherwise I just don’t see spending the money for the note 3 with such a tiny incremental increase. The only reason I got note 2 after note 1 was the much faster specs…. but the quad a9 in the note is still amazing. So I truly hope they bring us a 5.99 inch amoled note 3 or there will be millions of disappointed fans awaiting the release.
