Moto X Customization Details Emerge
The Moto X is set to be the first big release from Motorola. When it arrives this summer, the device will be what Motorola is calling the first smartphone that users can design. Today, details in regards to that customization emerged and it looks like Motorola will indeed be giving users a way to personalize the look of their smartphone.
Today, Motorola kicked off its advertising campaign for the new Moto X, a device that while official, remains a bit mysterious. Rumors have pieced together some of the specifications which are said to include a dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB of storage, a 10-megapixel rear-facing camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, and Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
Until today, one of its big and heavily advertised features remained in the shadows. However, a report from ABC News shed some light on the details behind the Moto X’s customization, something that will be a big selling point, at least in the eyes of Motorola.
Apparently, the customization will allow users to select the color of the back case, the color of the trim, engrave a message on the back and upload a photo that will be used as the device’s background. The device will apparently ship with said customizations within days, though the exact timing remains unknown.
On the heels of those details comes a leak that shows off what appears to be some of the back cases for the Moto X. Nowhereelse unearthed photos that show several different colors for the Moto X including purple and teal. In all, it appears that the device possesses around 16 different colors.
While this customization is certainly going to be unique to the Moto X, it’s likely going to underwhelm consumers who can easily customize their background and slap on a case with a different color. Still, this is to be expected given that Motorola said that the customization would have to do with design, and not the internal specifications.
