GameStop “Unlimited” PlayStation 4 Pre-orders Come To An End

Published

on

Just a few weeks after Sony reportedly told GameStop to “open the floodgates” and take “unlimited” pre-orders for the PlayStation 4, the video game retailer now claims the console is sold out.

GameStop recently halted sales of the PlayStation 4 console on its website, meaning gamers will have to look elsewhere for the next Sony console. The GameStop website asks gamers to sign up for more information about the console in the future, which will presumably tell gamers when pre-orders open up for the console again.

Strangely, the company’s website no longer lists any of the pricy PlayStation 4 bundles it originally offered instead of pre-orders. Those will presumably reappear when pre-orders come back.

Gamers who managed to pre-order the console can still pre-order PlayStation 4 games like Watch Dogs, Infamous: Second Son, Drive Club, Knack and Need For Speed: Rivals for the PlayStation 4. Many of the games GameStop offers for pre-order will come out for the PS4 at launch, though many, like Infamous and Destiny, won’t come to the console until sometime next year.

While GameStop is no longer taking pre-orders for the PlayStation 4, there are still other stores willing to sell the new Sony console to gamers. Amazon still offers pre-orders for the PlayStation 4. The online retailer is sold out of pre-orders for the launch edition of the console, but every other version is still available. That includes the standalone console for $399, and bundles that include games like Knack, Battlefield 4, Killzone: Shadow Fall and Watch Dogs.

The Amazon bundles start at $460 for the Knack and Watch Dogs bundles. The Battlefield 4 and Killzone bundles also include a year of PlayStation Plus, which brings the cost up to $500. Gamers will need PlayStation Plus to play those games online.

Other retailers such as Best Buy, Target and Walmart also still offer pre-orders for the PlayStation 4.

The PlayStation 4 will release sometime this holiday season for $399, making it $100 less than its competitor the Xbox One.

Ain’t no thang but a chicken wang. I don’t have to worry about getting a console at the moment because I don’t have the money. Although, in the near future some time between the end of this year and the beginning of next year I might have the money and hope to be gaming with all those gamers out there.
