LG Optimus G Pro Might Be Heading to Verizon

The LG Optimus G Pro may be an exclusive to AT&T right now, however, it appears that that exclusive may end at some point down the road as a Bluetooth filing seems to point to the LG Optimus G Pro making an appearance on Verizon Wireless at some point in the future.

For weeks now, the LG Optimus G Pro has been available on AT&T’s 4G LTE network as a competitor for the company’s version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Like the Galaxy Note 2, the Optimus G Pro features a spacious 5.5-inch display though the resolution on LG’s model is a beefier 1080p resolution as opposed to the Galaxy Note 2’s 720p HD.

The LG Optimus G Pro does not feature a bundled stylus like the Galaxy Note 2 so this is a device that is geared toward those that want the larger display but don’t want or need a stylus or the extra software that comes with it.

Right now though, the device and its 1080p display and 13MP camera is only available on AT&T’s 4G LTE network. However, it appears that Ma Bell may have some company at some point in the future.

Blog of Mobile dug up a GCF certification for a device dubbed LG-VS980 which it believes is the LG Optimus G Pro for Verizon. The model number is similar to a previous big-screen LG smartphone for Verizon, the LG Intuition or LG-VS950, which debuted to take the Galaxy Note series head on but ended up fizzling out due to demand for Samsung’s big name device.

The GCF certification took place today which means that this device is on its way and it could be heading to the nation’s largest 4G LTE service provider. Of course, details are extremely scarce and given that AT&T has an exclusive, this could be another device entirely. On the other hand, we have seen Verizon partner up with LG numerous times so it wouldn’t be surprising to see an LG Optimus G Pro variant hit Big Red as a Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy Note 3 competitor in the weeks ahead.
